Grand Seiko Shunbun (SBGA413)
Just got this yesterday.
I've always appreciated Grand Seiko but was never sure if I'd buy one myself.
Long story short, I tried on a bunch of different watches I've been considering.
I wasn't sure what to pick, I tried this one last and something just clicked when I put it on!
I also just realized my computer monitor works surprisingly well as an improvised lighting setup for watch photography.

Congratulations man. That was my first GS. It was definitely the gateway drug that got me hooked on the brand. Decided to attach a couple photos I’ve taken recently. The dial is just straight mesmerizing.
If GS dials don't set your heart aflutter... you probably don't have a heart. Congrats!

Pictures don't do it justice and I love how it looks either just white or slightly pink depending on lighting condition.

When I first saw it in real life I wasn't even sure if I was looking at the Spring (pink) or the Winter (white) variation of this model.
Stunning dial, and the lighting sure makes the shot looks good, like an afternoon sunlight

It's crazy that this metallic white looking dial can look so different once some softer and slightly warmer light hits the dial.
I love taking shots of that dial all throughout the day from morning through to golden hour at sunset. All my GS’s are special in that respect. I have thousands of photos of them! 🤪🙈😅

It's a hard choice, I hope it's not causing you too much stress though, making these choices can be so difficult hah.
The SLGA009 looks incredible too, I really love the hands and indices on that one! I'm sure it's more legible than the SBGA413.
It's a tough choice but you really can't go wrong with either one, both are incredible.

Love it! The SBGA443 is my second GS. Always wanted to get a spring drive. Have been turned away from GS since letting go of my SBGR053 years ago. Great watch but proportions were way off (thick little 37mm watch) and stopped wearing it after a year or two.
Not a problem with the Shunbun’s 40mm case, so delighted to get back to GS. Titanium is great too, have been more into it since getting my FXD earlier.
Love the angular case as well! The SBGV245 was also high on my list, but still can’t get over quartz. Spring drive is a great alternative.

Ah yeah, proportions is one of those things that can be very personal, I find it difficult to tell whether or not the proportions of a watch are just right until I try it on for a while.
I always thought SBGA413/443 would be too large for me as a dress watch, but after trying it on it just felt right.
The titanium case and bracelet probably play a huge part in this too, making it feel significantly lighter than similarly sized watches.
I have to admit, I'm actually quite interested in high accuracy quartz too, the Citizen Chronometer is another watch I've been looking at for quite a while now. But yeah, I'm very happy with owning a watch powered by the legendary spring drive technology, great accuracy and the smooth sweep is mesmerizing.
