New Watch, New Poll - Tudor BB GMT Black Vs. "Polar"

Tudor announced today the release of an opaline-colored Black Bay GMT, already being dubbed the "Polar." How does it stack up to the original Black GMT?

I think the polar color looks great. It might be some time down the line but I just might have to grab one of these.

I like the extra contrast of the black dial. Then again, I might be ever so slightly biased:

They can make whatever dial color they want but the watch is still chunky. And for the price, rest of the Tudors in the price range have T-fit clasp but they did nothing with this other than give it a new dial and increase in the price over the last one year make this a bad value at this time compared to the BB pro.

For sure, black dial definitely wins the legibility category in my eyes.

Glad to see they put the manufacture movement in these days.

So Tudor finally manages to pay homage to the SM cream dial version that pays homage to the Tudor.

I like the white dial on the all steal watch and the black on the S&G root beer version.

·

I enjoy the white dial way more than I thought I would. Maybe because it felt fresh

The opaline dial gives me microbrand vibes. Probably only because black dialed GMTs are such a Rolex/Tudor thing (I know, meteorite dials and such exist) and whenever I see a white dialed GMT it comes from a microbrand. So maybe I just have to get used to it. 😄

Polar dial looks great but I wish they’d put it on the BB Pro as well.

I've been trying to figure out why the white dial looks off to me compared to the Explorer II and I just figured it out...Rolex blacked out the hands and index borders when they went white dial -- I think this could have used that treatment to boost the contrast, rather than maintaining the silver metal against the white.

I like the polar dial more, but this is a fair criticism, the legibility could have been improved as you suggested. But I also suspect they did not want to borrow that element from the Explorer II so as to not invite those direct comparisons.

I love it, but agree with the comment around the hands. More contrast would be better!
