Singapur Impression

Hi folks,

I am staying right now in Singapur for holiday. When we walked through the city I saved some impressions for you guys.

If you have Singapur on nyour travellist …. Go for it. It’s absolutely worth it.

And if you like to purchase a watch or educate yourselves about specific brands check Singapur definitely out.

It’s crazy how many insane brands and grey dealers with windows full of beautiful watches they have.

They have Moser, Frank Müller, Patek, Tudor, Lange, Grand Seiko and so so many more even Microbrands and Vintage stuff.

Even without one watchstore the city is absolutely worth visiting.

Absolutely. Hopefully I can travel one day again to Singapur. Maybe for another watch purchase 😅

I bought a digital sports watch. I don’t know. It was just spontaneous… the clean modern design spooked too me and the size of the watch is smaller than other watches in this field.

So my girlfriend bought a new bracelet for the watch. So now I have to comfortably and nicely looking straps for the watch as well.

Here wrist shot:

I like the colours of that strap very much!

Enjoy yourself. I've been to Singapore a couple of times.

Super clean, great food, and hot as hell!

Thanks. Me too. I really think it’s suits the watch even if it’s not from the brand.

Grüße zurück 😉

Your absolutely right. A lot that attracts your eyes from straps, over watch storage too watches.

Just my wallet is less impressive so I didn’t shopped any mechanical watch.

How many times you already been to Singapur?

Singapore Rocks!🍻

·

The widest collection of grey market dealers in Singapore is in Far East Plaza. It’s just off Scott Road. You’ll get lost there.

I think some of your pictures show these shops.

Happy you like Singapore

·

Welcome to Singapore!

You can also check out The Bencoolen at Bugis Street. They have watch shops ranging from affordable to luxury to vintage. Enjoy your stay!

·

We had fun!

But …Sands too pricey to stay at (1000 Canadian bucks per night !) and the watch I liked was 350k .. the insane heat melted Canuck me as well!

So much finance wealth in that city, I felt super poor 🙄

I see you have plenty of experience and local knowledge about the city.

Highly appreciated your offer 🙏👌. That would be definitely something i would enjoy a lot.

When you arrange a WC do you choose a topic or you hold it more or less casual.

Depends on the setting. One time at IWC, had the SA do some sharing of the firm, then casual chat. Another time at Delugs (strap maker) played with straps and casual chat. I'd like to set up a strap changing and strap matching workshop next maybe.

A topic would be interesting, eg bring your favorite independent or microbrand!

That sounds really cool.

How do you get normally in touch with the brands to set such a event up.

Is Delugs a strapmaker from Singapore?

I also like the idea of talking about micro brands. There definitely pretty cool ones out there.

More than welcome. If you don’t mind let us know how you liked it and what you experience where and witch watch you hunting after 😉

Duly noted 🫡

I'll probably look for Zelos or Vario watches

·

😂that’s funny…. At least it’s vintage these days 😁 … and you can tell the hole Story! 💪

Not even a store in Brisbane?

Do you have a recommendation for Melbourne. I think i will be there in few weeks. :)

It’s sad that many people mass around withe the vintage stuff and kill the flair. Some pieces so shit that probably no one will deal with them. But you never know what you get if someone did some unprofessional work on it.

There used to be a great place in the Block arcade in the Melb’ CBD but it seems to have disappeared. I have found one in Bris but yet to visit in person. There is a place East of Melbourne AWatch in time, they had some great vintage stuff but I think Singapore would have way more options.

Great view from your office, I used to visit Singapore regularly for work in the 90’s & actually lived there as a toddler (Serangoon garden way) we will define visit again for a watch trip.Enjoy the view!

People in the group have relationships and we just ask. It's an opportunity for the boutique to also gain new customers, so win win.

Yeah, Delugs is a great strap maker based here. They're very high quality and not too expensive compared to the fancy pants ones I've seen online.

You felt poor 😅 … ask me 😂

Anyway the city has sooooo much more to over than glory and gloss.

Also I adore watches and luxury watches a lot :)

I really seems like you enjoyed your self a lot. Did you purchased the mbandf or GS ?

The GS skeleton is really a beast and a grail watch!!!

I bought the GS second hand/pre scratched from a private seller in the US. Crazy cheap, for how amazing it is

MB&F watches are light years out of my price range, as are 350k GS watches. Oh well, still love my Sakura 🫶

Never heard of vario as a brand 😊… Zelos is a interesting brand as well. I hope you have luck and find what you hunt for :)

Thanks for sharing that input. Then I am plan just to have a look in Melbourne. Maybe I find something interesting on a flea market:)

I also looked also after options in Perth, but it seems there not many 🤷‍♂️

Please share with us your purchase if you find something in Singapur 😉

That great. Seems like there open minded. I have the feeling stores in Berlin (that’s where I am originally from) are more conservative.

I think it’s great change for both groups to learn more about there needs and wishes will you enjoy that topic :)

350 k is really serious money 😅 … but your grand Seiko is also very nice and unique. Not many people wear that watch.

I also like a lot your blue Seiko from your collection. The color is very powerful:)

Why is the Richard Mille boutique so muted, calm, minimalist, and tasteful? The polar opposite of their watches 😂

·
wrist.journey

Oh yes… very good choice as well. Any reversible in particular :)?

Now I am curious 😉

probably something like this colour combo. its better if its duoface, but monoface are also ok for me

Maybe to have a atmosphere like a Galerie that shows art.

So the customer doesn’t get visual interrupted and can focus on the products.

Just my thoughts 💭🤷‍♂️😄

It’s a nice one. Very timeless. I think there are so many nice versions of that watch out there. Would be very difficult for me to decide.

But I also like the duoface a lot.

What are you most favorite things about Singapore :)?

How long did you stayed or lived in the city of lions 🦁😁?

My most favourite thing? Well that’s easy. My fiancé. She lives and works there. I met her several years ago (2018) when I was doing my masters there and we will now get married this october in Singapore.

I studied there for a bit over 1 years. But even before that, I had been there for few months for a research exchange. And even since then, I have been there several times to spend the holidays. It would be difficult to count the exact time. But it has been long enough for me to think of Singapore less as a tourist place and more as a home.
