I own multiple watches with a PT5000 movement and find them reliable. They're also very accurate, all run well within cosc, if that's something that's important to you. (Ranging from 0 to +/-4.)
In my opinion there's no need to worry, it's a well proven movement. And don't forget that most of the protests are based in an antiquated way of trying to protect swiss "excellence" and frankly a significant heap of racism as well.
Brand name. I have paganis and Lobinni but those sound better than that
Guessing it's named after Proxima Centuari, the nearest star to our Sun (Alpha Centauri is the biggest in that group) . Light takes around 7 years to get to us , travelling at roughly 186,000 miles per second.
It's a pretty cool name , certainly better than Pagani Design imho. 👍🏻

I like the watch, but not necessarily those specific colors. I have 3 PT5000 watches and they all run great, and have been totally reliable and rugged so far.
One of the watches popped off my wrist onto a tile floor from counter top height and the PT5000 is still running at -1spd.
It looks nice. It reminds me of 1960's divers, like Ollech&Wajs, except it added some lively colour. And the case looks to be common with a PX1697, a Christopher Ward homage.
And the name sounds good. Asians are safe with latin and greek when inventing names for "western" markets.
The issue will be less the movement and the brand. It depends on sourcing. Some factories do a poor job with the lubricant. I know that San Martin and octopus source quality versions of this movement. Not sure about proxima.

I think it’s too small. Even with the SW-200 it’s a great deal. I don’t think it’s pricey at all as long as the finishing is ok. The name does sound a bit like a term in a Veterinary Medicine textbook. Buy it!

I just don’t like the name
EDIT:
It doesn't have to PT500. It has the Peacock SL300 and Seagull ST2130. And still worth the read.
Here's a great write up with the PT5000 in it.

Indeed i have no issues with the name
Rolex "Coke", Rolex "Pepsi", Rolex "Root Beer", Rolex "Sprite"......... and now, Proxima "Starry" 😅
I think it's quite nice. It reminds me of a pineapple.

That looks sick but if I wore it my friends would rip on me for the Packers colors. 🐻🔽

Very nice, love the color scheme.
