Do you use your Chronograph?

I constantly hear people talk about how they won’t buy a chronograph because they’ll never use it. Or talking people out of buying a chronograph because they’ll never use it (similarly with a dive bezel). I use mine just about everyday! I used it 3 times today in fact… when using my toaster oven for my morning bagel, when timing how long my commute was, and then tonight when I expect my pizza arrival! (They said 45min but it was actually 58:20.3, picture proves it!). During COVID, I used it even more, timing those annoying 15-min rapid tests. What say you? Do you use yours? Post your favorite chronographs!

I'll admit I do not use mine all that often.

Its not why I bought it though.

But let's be honest; how often do we use the hands of a 3-hander to find north? That's a feature of a watch. How come no one asks about that?

Lol That’s a good one! I didn’t think about that feature! Although, that’s probably not a primary feature of a 3-handed like telling the time is. Whereas I think the primary function of a Chronograph is to be used as a stopwatch. I probably use it more as a stopwatch than telling the time! Lol

I use a chrono several times per week. Usually cooking, but for other things too.

Normally I'll tell "Alexa" to time something for me but if I'm outside grilling...

·

I have some fun using it. I use to time my daily drive to work. I measure my walking time in the neighbourhood. How much time did it took to make my grocery.... Simply use it ! have fun with it!

Exactly! I use it whenever I can! How long did it take my son to run upstairs to get something and back down! What’s your Chrono?

Nothing expensive or interesting. My entire collection of just over 100 watches probably costs less than your single Omega.

·

I use the Chronograph function on my Speedtimer rarely. And what i do use it for is stupid crap like timing how fast my kids can run through the house😄 i say i want one but I'm not sure if i would want an automatic chronograph simply for the initial cost plus cost of service. Especially since i don't actually use it

Price doesn’t matter!!! What are some of your favorite Chronos? Most of my watches have been less than $500 over the years. I just got lucky that I had a milestone moment coming up and for an incredible deal on the Speedy at nearly 40% off new.

Nice!!! I used to have these but have been slowly upgrading over time… I have a watchbox of 6 so if a new one comes in, one has to go!

I'm not inclined to sell any of mine. I just keep adding. 😜

I start it to monitor my coffee, the washing machine, the Covid-19 test, the eggs in the water, the time passing by for tasks that I gave participants in my trainings, ... I can do it without a chronograph, of course, but it is most comfortable to kick the chronograph on.

Well he was pretty eccentric so I can understand that. But certainly most people don’t even wear a watch nowadays, especially if you don’t consider smart watches as traditional watches.

·

The only Chrono's I have are my moonswatches. I have used one to time how long my teabag was brewing, but after that, they never get used. They were a great way of showing me that I don't really like Chrono's and I won't be buying any more.

·

Just because I don't use the functions daily doesn't mean that I don't like looking at the watch with multiple dials. People have smart watches now, I would bet that they don't use all the apps and functions of those on a daily basis.

Very true!

Why I like Chrono's is exactly the same reason why I like watches at all. I like the history of the engineering & mechanical detail in them. Not to start a controversy, but I've seen very expensive yet simple watches and said to myself, I don't get it. Other than a 'precious metal' value, what are you paying for? That's an oversimplification, but I do wonder sometimes.

But as it is always, to each his own.
