Titans of Japan

There is just something special about Japan and its ability of making beautiful timepieces, as well as movements. Seiko and Citizen are some of the giants in the industry, especially in Asia.

These two brands have always made such a flawless appeal in my eyes with its rich history, design, as well as movements. But talking about movements, these two are also some of the largest companies that dominate the watch movement manufacturing industry in the market today. Not only are they reliable, but they are also affordable, thus giving small and upcoming microbrand companies to power their creations. But going back to these two watches in particular, the Citizen Tsuyosa and the Seiko 5 Sports SRPE53, had caught my interest because of it's design as well as it's wearability. Personally, I can see myself changing and rotating between these watches from day-to-day and I just couldn't get enough of their sunray dials.

In conclusion, I have to say that these are actually great and fun watches to own, where the Citizen shows more of a popping, and the Seiko shows more of a subtle tones of wear.

Two great watches! I have a bias for the Citizen but the Seiko is really cool too!

Those are two nice choices. For me, Seiko has been the “gateway drug” into the watch collecting world with some amazing designs.

Love the Citizen dial

Titans indeed, well said.

Seiko and Citizen, great brands indeed.

You can make a whole collecting life out of just them.

·

Have plenty of both brands. Love them both but Seiko dials are tough to beat.

I love seiko and own more of them than any other brand, recently I found another Japanese brand I think should get more respect and that's aquatico, they use seiko movements but are very refined and well made

Bought three Tsuyosas on the very trip I'm coming home from right now (waiting for our plane at the moment). Love 'em! 👍

Two brands that can do it all. That experiment, make mistakes but still manage to improve and evolve. More importantly, keep pushing watchmaking forward. And they do this, not just for the elites, they also do it for the common Joe.

A good watch for everyone and anyone, at almost all price levels.

I've actually heard of this brand name popping a couple of times. Originally because of their Sea Star GMT lineup, where they made use of Seiko's NH34 movement to compete in the GMT market.

That yellow dial... 🤤
