I'm sure there's been a bunch of posts like this, but here's another just for fun!
One of our fellow Crunchers @Ichibunz has built quite a reputation for himself as a fanatic DIY watch builder....but I know he's not the only one around here ๐ Even Mr. Founder himself @Max has some videos showing his own adventures in modding and building.
So I ask you WC, show us your DIY projects, mods and builds! Here's some of my very own below...
Latest green dials, bronze I kept, two-tone went to a happy coworker.
This is an SKX that went through a few iterations before I artificially aged it.
Eventually I built a proper SKX with OEM parts minus the case and bracelet.
And why not mod a 5KX. First it was a Pepsi homage, now it's an SPB185 homage?
Some of my very first builds are still my favorite. I still have them, but looking for a new happy home currently.
Some random ones, a trip into explorer homages and a black-bay-skx...also looking for new homes.
Also just for fun, a MAS62 build and a 5KX mod I did for some friends.
And for the grand finale, my most worn homage build, a vintage sub...
Believe it or not, this isn't even the whole list ๐ You've seen mine, now show me yours!

Love the WC watch you made. Looks like you're also into the custom logos. Cool pieces!

Nice! Those are some high-end movements you got. I haven't gone past the NH series movements myself haha. That Pilot chrono is ๐

While doing these builds, I developed a much greater appreciation for the NH series movements (2011+) after messing with these older designed movements Valjoux (1973) Unitas (1950). The internal movement tech has improved in ways that are not obvious on the outside. The half century difference shows. I find doing the NH mods much more relaxing and less problematic.
There's a lot of nice watches around, for somebody completly new to watch build, where is the best place to start ? I would like to build a Alpinist watch, where do you get the parts & tools ?

Tools on Amazon. If you want the sure-shot way to build go to a site like Namoki Mods or DLW watches. It's more expensive than sourcing from AliExpress, but also much more likely to work for a beginner. DIY Watch Club also offer kits, but again at a premium.
For movements just google or try AliExpress.

Thank you Hector. I am very much into custom logos I feel like it gives a custom watch that cherry on top.
