Finally!

Well, I can finally tick a watch off of my list. It has always been just a bit too expensive to buy just casually, but I came over one online at a hugely discounted price, used, but barely. Still has 18 months of the guarrantee left, super!

Anyway, I’ve ordered some straps, but I’d like to have some suggestions; what are the best combos you’ve seen?

I'd go with a brown distressed leather, leather nato, or a Bund.

Leather nato I hadn’t thought of! Very nice idea. Do you have an image of a Bund strap?

Have ordered a black nato, tried with a black perlon- it’s a bit to «thin» I think. I gave bracelet a thought, not seen any examples, and dare not try it🫣

I'm currently looking at getting a Khaki Field 42mm Mechanical, how are you finding it?

I have the khaki field auto 42mm, but I’m thinking about to sell it to get the 38mm, we could talk about if you want

I found it on the Norwegian version of Craigslist, just randomly searched a couple of days ago, and the rest is history! I don’t know what to recommend outside of Norway, unfortunately. Good luck though! It’ll be worth the hunt

Thank you! Not letting this one go anywhere

I wear mine mostly on the stock nato, and sometimes on the bracelet which I bought separately from Swatch Group USA. I wouldn't recommend buying the bracelet separately like I did, I feel that the quality does not live up to the price. Bracelet looks nice tho....

See, I would too. I used it today on the original nato, but I wear it on the last hole, and yes, it fits perfect! But i feel that it’s a little too long (the flap) when wearing it that way.

Do you have an image or the link for the bracelet? I might have to try that. Thanks for the input!

Sweet snag!!!!

Thank you!

If you get a leather nato make sure the hardware on the nato isn’t too big or it will make the watch look super small

Nice tip! What colour would you recommend on the hardware?

Black, silver, grey as long as it’s more matte than shiny.

Cheers for getting a great piece btw. This is my fav combo for it

personal experiences:

Crown and Buckle

Crown and Buckle make some nice straps. Their supreme NATO's are very finely woven and a bit on the shiny side. I would suggest looking at their matte supreme line-up. The Chevrons are adjustable single pass straps, bit tedious to setup and don't adjust well for swelling. They are situated in the US, so if you're in Europe expect some import fees.

Phenomenato

Small EU business, has a rather limited stock in terms of styles available. Fine woven, but not as shiny as the crown and buckle offerings. Might take a while to ship. Ships from mainland EU.

Geckota/Watchgecko/Zuludiver

They seems to revamped part of their store so some of the stuff I own from them is discontinued or missing. Their seatbelt offerings are on the shiny side. Their moon/NASA Velcro straps are for wrists past 6.6 inch/16.5 cm in size. Ships from the UK.

Erika's original Marine Nationale

Stretchy material adjusts well to swelling. Bit of a setup. Price is something to consider. So far one of the most comfortable straps I have. Ships from mainland EU.

Nick Mankey's hook strap

Takes a while to make and ship. I think I ordered in spring and got in September. More setup than the Erika's marine nationale. It is not a pull through setup so no additional height added. There is a tether module that does add height, though from my understanding he is working on a replacement design, that gives you spring bar failure but does not add height.

Equally comfortable, unhooking is a bit tedious at times.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Oh wow! Thanks for a very informative answer. Maybe a strechy one is something I’ll have to try.. thanks again!

It really does. Problem is that the way the OEM strap is made, it is a little long for my taste. With other nato straps I can fold the extra back a bit, with this one the extra bit is just a tad too short to fold back. Also, I would like to have the option to tighten it at least a hole more

Consider an Erika’s Originals Marine Nationale. Erika’s can be ordered from Holben's Fine Watch Bands in the States as well. Plenty of less pricey MN straps out there too.

Wow! I thought that red line was out of place when I saw the strap off the watch, but it fits perfectly!

Nice Timex.

Hah! I like this one better than the Timex, the «Indiglo» ruining the dial for me

·
casiodean

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Indiglo when the button sticks (which it does far too often) either. I wish Hamilton would improve the water resistance.

Absolutely. Should be at least 10 ATM, being a «Field» watch..

These are my favorite straps for my KFA…Delugs Waxy Slim Green leather and Zuludiver Seaqual khaki (green).
