Rolex GMT vs Day Date

I’ve been thinking about getting into full gold watches and my AD has offered me the new Rolex GMT Master in yellow gold on the jubilee bracelet and a Day date 40 in rose gold with the chocolate dial.

The watches are similar yet quite different from each other. I like both while I think that the GMT is “louder” compared to the rose gold day date, which isn’t bad, just my observation.

Prices are similar.

What are your thoughts about this “dilemma “?😅

Truly a dilemma😁. Another great case of personal taste. I would definitely go day date!!!!!

·

I think Rose - more subtle and versatile IMO. Yellow is very much a loud and attention grabbing metal for a watch, so if you want that, then yellow will do the trick.

·

GMT all day everyday

I prefer the day date. It is close enough to a dress watch to make sense in gold. The GMT basically has a diver case and is much less refined in my opinion, which makes the gold look over the top. Lastly, I think the jubilee bracelet on the GMT looks terrible with the huge, chunky, dive style clasp in the middle of it. The president bracelet with the hidden clasp is just so much nicer all around. My 2 cents!

I would personally go for Day Date because I have this strange feeling that next year's 70th anniversary of the GMT will bring a new case like Rolex did with Submariner back in 2020! 🍻

Thanks for your opinions 🙏

So far day date seems ahead.

I agree that day date is definitely more subtle.

Good argument. Didn’t have this in my mind.

I don’t want to rush into anything I might regret later 😬

Besides I assume that since the gmt obviously isnt that popular that I could pick it up in the future at a more affordable price if I wanted.

it'd deffo be the GMT for me, but then i'm a big GMT fan.

Generally, I prefer r GMT, but not in gold. I personally don't understand the fascination with gold. I think smaller, understated dress watches are fine with a gold case, but MUST have a leather strap. But big, chunky, clunky sport watches like the GMT Master, to me, just look like one is trying way too hard to show that one is loaded.

As to your dilemma, get the day-date, if you have the budget for it. Wish it wasn't in rose gold, personally think that looks more feminine, but I'd completely prefer it in stainless, but that's me.

Thanks for your insight.

I had the same thoughts about this when I saw the submariner in gold with the polished middle links.

Depends if you prefer a more dressy or sporty option. Personally I'm not a big fan of the Daydate.

·

I agree that it depends on whether you are looking for something casual or dressy. To me, the sport models belong on steel, not precious metal. If I was going all precious metal, it would be the DD - that president bracelet is amazing too.

·

I would go for the Day Date. I love the rose gold. More than that, I don’t like how the grey GMT bezel looks against the gold.

·

I genuinely would have to flip a coin they are both stunning!

That’s one way to solve this dilemma 😂👏

I actually like how the grey looks like. Interesting how controversial the gold gmt seems to be 😁

I’ve also seen it this way but this gmt is an exception to me. As an example I don’t like the submariner on precious metal.

·

I would go for the Day Date. Elegance and class. Not so “loud” as the solid gold GMT

·

Get the GMT and start driving round in one of these.

Or get the day date and drive around in this

I would go with which car you think looks best🙂

Does the day date have easy link?
