Christopher Ward Sealander GMT

Quite possibly the most value for money in a modern GMT. Sleek case design, minimal case height, sapphire crystal, really serviceable Sellita SW330-2 movement, perfect cross between sporty and elegant design, great use of color and readable dial.

I just don't think you walk away from purchasing a new GMT that beats this watch for the same price or less. It's not cheap, it's a quality piece. Sure it doesn't have that Grand Seiko or Rolex finish, but I think the design and finish get you as far as a watch can for $1300 or less out the door.

I start traveling again in February and I've been researching and studying what's available and I can't come to with anything better without spending closer to $3000. As well, there's just something about a watch of this caliber for this price that just makes wearing it easier, I know that it's mine forever, I don't need to worry about when and why I wear it.

And if your one of those people that like a watch that will spark up a conversation. That will happen with watch. Be it the enthusiast that hasn't seen one, the fuddy who doesn't know about them or the not high end buyer that can't believe you paid what for that thing? And I can buy one in 36 or 39mm?

🤌

Great watch and a price for the features and functionality.

I look into CW in general since a while but am still a little hesitant because I typically spend less for my watches… let‘s see this year…

I get it. but I think for someone like you, this is that option that gives you all of the modern function, design, style, fit finish and quality at that after spending that increased price you don't feel like you've made a mistake. It won't happen. It's impossible.

If I had to bet my life on recommending a watch to someone that hasn't spent that much and wants to walk away feeling like they truly got that value for money, or I drop dead on the spot.

This is it. And I have no affiliation or reason to suggest it. I have worn and held one, I've seen it in the flesh. It just doesn't fail to impress.

Hmmmm apples and oranges. Let me know a list of expensive Desk GMTs at 3k. Longines, GS, Tudor are all travelling GMTs which is a different thing all together and not the same thing. CW is actually up there on price compared to other desk GMTs.

Thanks for this, will definitely have a closer look!

This coming just after seiko 5 gmts, seems like there is a demand

I get so annoyed when this watch is called an Explorer 2 homage. Like somehow Rolex has the sole rights to a white dial and orange GMT hand so anything with the same color scheme is a homage or knockoff, even though they look nothing alike. Annoying. Rant over. I LOVE this watch and CW!

The more I see CW the more I really want one💯

·

When you consider this is the same price as the alpinist gmt it blows my mind.

·

I have no real need for a GMT but I like it.

It’s a copy, not a homage.

Never handle one, but photos looks very nice. Like Twelve, but unfortunately it's online only and my country seems not in the delivery list 😂😂

·

I can't agree more. I own this very model and it is by far my most worn and versatile watch. It was my first CW and I was very impressed by the build quality.

·

Extremely happy with this release. I hope it’s successful, and solidly establishing a trend for the rest of 2024.

Yep, I can definitely understand that. I think GMTs and Chronometers are the two complications that most people still use on watches outside of date and time. But yeah, if you are never travelling or have business outside of a nearby timezone. I can see how it wouldn't matter.

Although I bet there is someone here that could convince you why you need one lol

You mean the release of the 36mm? Yeah that was yesterday or the day before. I thought that was interesting as I had been researching this watch for the past two weeks. I did for a minute consider if I might want the 36 or not.

That sucks, I have the same issue with HMT watches, can't get them in my country unless I buy used or ebay. Although I might bet that the company could assist you. IDK for sure. But... It's worth looking into.

I agree but I also think the watch community misuses 'homage' a lot as meaning a near copy. Truely homage means inspired by. The C63 GMT (which I own) is an homage in the truest way. It is not just me saying that, CW is up front telling you what inspired them. They even call it a "GMT explorer" style watch in their marketing.

Now the people that say it's a homage because they think it's a 'copy' are idiots.

It's on my radar. I am saving for one. I am a sucker for the Trident in the seconds hand.
