Rolex Explorer 40

I have been offered Rolex Explorer 40 by one of my AD. I already have the same watch. I don’t want to say no to my AD in order to maintain my future purchases. I have one day to decide. Please Advise.

Tell your AD you already have an Explorer, and ask them to pull their finger out and get you what you want!

·

Why would you buy something as expensive twice just to please someone else whose job is to make sales...

·

This is business as usual. You tell them you already got one and that they can call the next one in the line.

·

Don’t they know you have the same watch?

·

Reread what you wrote. I’m sure the answer will come to you.

Why are people still playing these AD games? I'd almost be willing to bet that they have tried to move this onto other clients, but those other people have turned it down. Why has it been turned down? A. they either already have the piece in their collection (like yourself) or B. this is no longer a "flippable" piece.

·

I shouldn’t say this but if you bought it and flipped it, is there still money to be made on this model?

He will understand as you have one and not care as he just contacts the next person on the list.

Someone on here will be on the waitlist for one of these. As this is the game we have to play, we should set up a system on here where you can buy it now on there behalf. Just need a way to make it safe. A pay it forward kind of thing. You then maintain your relationship and get a bit closer to the watch you want. When theirs finally arrives, they can pass it on to the next person.

·

You're the customer, you tell them what you want, not bow to their passive/aggressive psychology.

It's not the last box of chocolates that's on offer, it's a luxury good that costs thousands of pounds. Don't give in to FOMO, there are millions of Rolex watches in the world.

·

I know it's not the easiest way but ask around if somebody needs it. You pay for it at the AD, it's gonna be under your name, and the other pays for it to you. (One of my friends had almost the same problem, and I find someone who was willing to buy it like that.)

If it's stupid or I missed something out, please tell me.

·

What do you mean you already have the same watch? From this AD or another AD?

From another AD

Haha, everyone jumping on the Rolex AD and their “games”, based on the posters assumption that declining the Explorer will upset them. We have absolutely no idea what this SA/AD will do. Silly how we trash AD’s and Rolex because of the posters fear of falling out of the good graces of the AD.

$700 to $800... $1000 if you find someone desperate, but probably not in the current market. Absolutely $500 to $600 all day. But it's really not worth it IMHO because that could be just as bad if the buyer sends it in to Rolex before you buy your next watch. Am I wrong on that Rolex pros?

I have said no to a watch and not had a negative impact with an AD.

The consideration of customer doesn’t count in this upside down world of Rolex AD’s. You should be thankful they called you.

Yes I know.

·

I’ll buy it for $ 7699

Fair call, especially if sent in for servicing and getting a black mark against your name. I did have a quick look on Chrono 24 (I know that’s not the bible as they are often higher prices) but you also have to take off their loading/fee for the end seller. There seems to be a fair amount of inventory and a lot of pricing not too high.

What the ADs should actually be doing in this situation is ... put it in the display case and allow walk in shoppers the chance to potentially buy the piece. The problem with this whole fictional waitlist game is that it is the main thing feeding the whole flipping culture. Eventually this AD is going to get a buyer, and most likely, that person is going to pick the watch up thinking they can flip it for even just a few hundred $ in profit, and the grey market then tries to sell it for a couple of grand over list... the problem then is that the watch becomes unobtainable for someone who really wants it i.e. a first time walk in buyer who just wants his/her first Rolex.

Neuro linguistic programming used by your AD incorrectly.

I wouldn't blame this one on rolex or the AD

·

If u have the money buy it after that you can do as u please gift it sell it trade it

·

Relationship with AD will improve if you say you already have one rather than take it and flip it.

·

Sounds like extortion to me.

·

Don't you think that's kind of being a willing victim?
