Experience buying watches

Hi everyone, I'd like to know just how much money you think you've lost since you started buying watches or collected? For example, by thinking that you've made a bad purchase because you bought the watch much too expensively or that in the end it wasn't the watch you wanted.

Well, considering I went through a whole vintage phase and buying huge watch lots of unfixable things. I'd safely say about 2K! That includes thrill purchases that I ended up passing along and losing money on.

Oh they are cool for sure. But I lost it on a resale.

$208? I bought a Casio for $18 out of nostalgia, couple of non-working Chalet thinking I can make one working one for $40 (11 years and still sitting in a drawer) and then about $150 for Orient Ray II blue which I almost never wear. The rest are either gifts or worn and enjoyed :)

Okay

·

I don't buy watches as an investment. Don't feel like I've lost any money at all.

Facts.

Nothing more frustrating than reserving a watch, pulling the trigger, and immediately finding it on sale or discounted online at www.buymywatchtrustme.com. I personally like to buy from reputable dealers but every now and then.....

I’ve lost my sanity in this hobby!

Basic rule for buying and selling; Any potential loss or gain by definition is unrealized unless they are actually sold. Meaning unless you sell them, you lose every single dollar spent when you bought them. Watches are lousy investments and I assume once I buy them, they are worthless to everyone but me.
