I keep mine in a glass top box but give them a good sill soaking about once a week.
I'n not sure what posseses some people to put them in a drawer and then wonder why they aren't running.
My is also in a glass top box. But the box is on a dresser, away from the window. So, I had one watch stop a couple of months ago. Now I do a sill soaking for one day a month and it seems to be sufficient.
I do that to my solar watches every week or two, and I keep the watches I don't wear near the window. Lithium batteries don't like to get discharged, so it's best to keep them topped off. Prolongs the battery life. Though every few months would probably be enough.
I routinely keep my solar watches on windowsills in my bedroom and bathroom. My wife thinks they are taking over. I have 7 solar G-Shocks, several Arnies, some Citizens and Casios and a Seitona. Plus a fun Jack Mason and a Farr & Swit.
Avoid direct sunlight. The watches get hot and I did injure a Seiko Solar doing this. The battery wonโt charge sufficiently anymore. BTW, took years for this to happen, not like it happened quickly.
Just a word of warning. Now I make sure they do not sit it direct sunlight.

You are not alone. Here is my trio.
I actually keep all of my solar watches in a glass top watch box. Generally no need for the window sill treatment ๐
Doing it right now!

Luckily in sunny OZ mine never drop of fully charged.
Luckily all of my Seikos work well with just sitting in the glass top box.
Edit: wrote the post, turned around to see that I am proven wrong as one has stopped ticking.
