What else besides watches?

So I know I can't be the only one who has interests in collecting other things too? (Or maybe I am) Anyway thought it'd be fun to run a poll and see how many of my fellow crunchers collect other things too, and if so how many other collections they have started?

Feel free to share pics/stories, or just more pictures of watches...๐Ÿ˜œ

Or to just add thoughts...

Watches, pens, and gym equipment. ๐Ÿ˜

Iโ€™m also addicted to vinyl and books, but my biggest sickness the last few years (other than watches) has been hiking/camping gear.

ยท

In no particular order:

Watches, Challenge Coins, Pens, Firearms.

Here's one of my collections, just got some new Ikea shelving and so trying out new places for things, hence my idea for this post.

I went down a rabbit hole of fountain pen videos a few months ago. Had to make myself walk away before it was too late. ๐Ÿ˜‚

That said, if you have a recommendation for a good pen under $50, Iโ€™m all ears!

Depending on the style you want, Lamy studio is great, Kaweco sport is good, pilot Metropolitan, although I think TWSBI would be my pick for that price.โ€ฆ.. just be careful. Before you know it you will be driving 4 hours to a Pen show/convention and be carrying two $150+ (ea) and a couple more cause why not. Then you get into notebooks, and end up with a $130 notebook holder/folio from Turkey so you can carry your notebook and pens together.

Good luck. Lol

I started with a Platinum Preppy. Don't have anything crazy, COVID completely blew my money on hobbies since couldn't do anything....๐Ÿค

You just made me realize I have an addiction to stuff. Not going to take pics of everything cause I donโ€™t like flexing but besides watches, I collect Jordans, Legos, Star Trek/Star Wars, Disney, and Marvel stuff. Itโ€™s really a sickness.

Nice! And in this case it's not flexing. I'm legit curious. Wife and I were talking about my newest addiction of WatchCrunch. And the topic came up, you collect more than watches. How many others do too?

Plus you just might inspire others! ๐Ÿ˜œ

US coins, currency

Also coolest collection I've ever seen was in Kenya. An interpreter we had with us, traded for small coins of every non Kenyan he met. His whole collection was maybe $50. But darn if that wasn't the coolest story of who he had met.

The rate Iโ€™m Goingโ€ฆ soon Iโ€™ll be collecting โ€œdebtโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚โ€ฆ

Hollywood noir of the 40s and 50s is my bread and butter. At last count I'd managed to watch about 120 titles from this era from the classics everyone knows to some super obscure Poverty Row b-flicks. But yes, I've gone a little ways down the neo-noir rabbit hole and found some great films - Night Moves, Point Blank, Cutter's Way, Friends of Eddie Coyle, etc.

While maybe more NEO than noir i like: Both Blade Runners, Upgrade, Minority Report, Dark City, Mute, 12 Monkeys, OG Matrix and Ghost in the Shell OG.

Just recently was reading an article about the above movies. I just found I liked them, come to find out some consider them Neo-Noir! ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป

ยท

Not familiar with Mute - how was that? I love Blade Runner and definitely consider it neo noir (maybe neo neo noir?)

ยท

Well i have a few other interests, then watches.

I love historical cozy crime books and especially sherlock holmes ( the original, not the modern reinterpretations). I never travel under a few hundred pages in my hand luggage. I also have a weakness for Doc Marten's, owning 4 pairs in the moment including one canvas for the summer, one wild leather for the winter and also hiking, one simple derby pair in vegan leather and one budapester pair in hard leather. It's honestly the only shoe brand i buy, mostly because of the resistend against anything, incredibly comfortable air sole.

Cigars (from Nicarague or Brasil), Whisky (and Whiskey), high quality tabacco in general, swiss chocolate and coffe are other passions, i please myself with, on a irregular basis. So i'm a little bit of a connoisseur myself๐Ÿ˜Ž

Does collecting parts for four years for a 2001 5-series count?

It. Never. Ends. ๐Ÿคฏ

Lol. Mute was decidedly different. I'd almost call it Neon Noir.

Good concept and overall visually a very good future noir movie. Just needed some tweaks in plot. It has been awhile since I've seen it, but it was one of the first Netflix exclusives. Can't remember if it was before or after Spectral.

I too hoard, I mean collect car parts, but that's part of car maintenance, that's my justification for filling up the garage.

ยท

Watches, sneakers and golf clubs

I use my second bedroom for parts storage. Yes, I'm happily single.

I noticed a coin from Albuquerque. I was in the 898th munition sq for a lot of years.

ยท

Not sure if that's collecting, but I have a wee bit too many bottles of Scotch whisky, various whiskeys and bourbons. Nothing of particular value, really, but I just keep getting them as gifts and while I enjoy a glass every now and then (once in a few weeks) the cabinet keeps filling up with full bottles at a way greater rate than bottles being emptied and leaving it.

ยท

Watches, signed first editions/printings, custom butterfly knives, guitars, and lighters.

Yup, been to Albuquerque a few times. I always carry extra shop coins for trades. I also always budget pocket money for buying some too, it's been my way of cataloging my travels.

ยท

I'm a comic book and comic book art collector too
