Microbrand Field Watches under $1,000

Crunchers, I'm craving a field watch that's a bit unique from the Hamilton Khaki line. 🥾⛰️

Thought it would be fun to get a pulse check from the community on which brands are resonating with others out there.

Must haves:

  • Automatic OR solar movement

  • Sapphire crystal

  • Canadian distribution (no duty fees)

Nice to haves:

  • <40mm case diameter

  • Colour variants (not just black dial)

  • Titanium case

Below are some highlights that I've narrowed down. Let me know what you think (or what I've missed).

Honestly with that budget I would still go Hamilton (many opinions) or Christopher Ward. 🤷

No clue about the Canadian distribution, but REI and other outdoorsy equipment retailers sell them.

And being from Canada, look at Momentum, great company and fantastic, affordable watches!

You can consider a microbrand like SWC. They make military inspired watches that have Swiss movements. The Hyper G is a nice Type-A dial

Not sure how import duties work in Canada but as you had one Singaporean brand I thought I’d throw in another. Zelos are coming out with a new Ti Field Watch. Otherwise Bertucci have a newish solar watch that might be worth a look.

The only reason that I'm looking outside of Hamilton is because my current collection consists entirely of big name brands. Hamilton is the icon and spec monster, juat looking to see what else is out there.

Love Boldr and Zelos! Boldr made the cut because they happen to have a Canadian AD. Same as Formex.
