A specific dive watch around 500€

Hello guys, I‘m looking for a dive watch around 500€. It should be around 40mm and wear rather smaller then large. 20mm lugs, a bracelet that tapers a bit and a date window. The usual recommendations like Seiko and Orient have 22m lugs, are big and have a bracelet that pretty much doesn‘t taper at all. What I found so far was Hamilton Scuba, Glycine Combat sub 39 and certina ds Action diver, which are all just a little bit over Budget. Maybe the new announced 40mm orient diver could be one to consider. Are there any alternatives?

Have a look at Zelos. I have the Mako V3 which fits your dimension and budget requirements. It’s sold out I think but maybe you can find another model you like, or check the grey market. I cannot say enough good things about them and love my Mako!

You might look at San Martin as well. You'll find one that meets all specs and have change left over.

Did you take a look at the Seiko solar models that come in a 38.5mm case. Fits your specs and can be found for $300-400.

Or like you said, the 40mm Orient would be great option once they are available. The Glycine would be a good option too.

Get the Glycine Combat Sub 39mm or 42mm and I bought mine new from an online dealer here in the US for around $300 USD. People forget that Glycine is a Swiss watch company with a long history. When Invicta bought them out people thought “Well there goes Glycine.” But the opposite, the Swiss doubled down and upped their QC to say to Invicta “This is how we do things in Switzerland.” Good luck!

Does it has to be mechanical?

Thanks everyone so far! Zelos makes the list also, great recommendation. Though the dials of the makos are a little busy in my opinon.

What i want to add to the criteria: i have no problem with a lot similarities to the submariner, but i‘m not looking for a 1:1 homage anymore. A mechanical movement is a criteria for me too.

Spinnaker has four versions of their Croft model under $200 USD as a Special Offer now. Meets all your requirements, if you’re open to micro brands.

The Glycine uses an in house Swiss automatic movement, not a Seiko NH35 automatic movement that every automatic watch on the “Watches are Us” site in LuvlongTime in China uses on the premier $79 a watch line.

Islander fan girl to the rescue. I've picked both the Bayport and the Northport in normal colors, but they come in some bright, fun options if you prefer. I've been very happy with the quality, reliability, and accuracy.

Bracelet isn't anything to cheer about, but neither is the Seiko bracelets so...

As you’re open to micros I’d take a look at Boldr and there’s a brand called Aquatico

Don’t have any first hand experience of them but I hear good things.
