World's lightest watch, what do you think?

Ming just released the world's lightest watch at 8.8g for manual and 10.8g for automatic, priced at almost 20k chf. Would love to know what you think!

I admire the effort and craft to get a watch to these specs, but I feel the end result looks like a 3d printed watch especially on the case back. Great idea, but I do like a bit of heft on my watches.

I've checked how much weight a Casio FW-91 to compare and it's 21gr. Weighting half is insane.

·

Cool!

Not for me, but cool!

It’s like wearing a paper clip on your wrist! The design is very unique. Seems like deep black designs are in now for a while and still going strong 💪🏾. Ehh 20k sheeesh! I don’t have it ✌️😅

Pretty hefty sum of money for a paperclip! 😅

Well. All I can say is I can admire from afar

·

Interesting looking. But at 20,000, not interesting enough

·

Clever, but looks awful and I don't even like titanium (at all) because of the lack of weight.

Id hate this, but at that price I'll never experience it 🤣

·

I was just wondering about lightweight watches last night 🙂

That’s incredible. I love the attitude - why do it? “Because we wanted the challenge.” There’s a ton of innovation in here that has to be respected, too. Very cool, even if it’s not something I can afford.

Indeed. Welcome to watch collecting!

·

Damn that's cool. As quoted earlier, a mechanical half the weight of an FW-91 is incredible to think about. Twenty K? It's Ming, so they might be able to get away with it.

·

For that coin I want to feel it on my wrist.

·

I don't know many people looking for a watch this light weight. I admire the engineering required to pull this off, but I don't think I'd like wearing a 10 gram watch.

·

To be honest I think it’s an amazing piece of engineering but it will probably be owned and worn by fat over weight guys it reminds me of the guys at the biker cafe with super lightweight sports bikes with lots of money worth of carbon fibre parts on there bikes to make them as light as possible to get better performance out of them while being 20st plus with big beer belly’s 🐷🤣🤣

·

Meh, weight is not much of a concern for me. The design is cool.

·

If this was half the price, I'd be really tempted. Certainly no need for a watch this light weight, but the idea of it is super intriguing. I also really like the way that the watch shows that its running.

There are some serious Ming collectors who will pay for the 200 examples they are manufacturing. I think they will surely come out with the same dial on a “heavier” version for a fraction of the price for mass market.
