What is the most useful complication to you? For me it is the worldtimer!

I used to think that the GMT is the most useful complication, as I love travels and there are business trips I have to take.  However, with the pandemic, we cannot travel to other countries easily now. But we are much more collected with the world nowadays.  Take myself as a watch lover, for the last few weeks, I have been following in real-time the GPHG awards, auctions in Geneva and HongKong, Dubai Watch Week and watching the real-time streams.  So, it is quite handy to have a worldtimer on the wrist.

I'd like to rotate through watches in my collection, but I find myself often go back to the Omega worldtimer.  I would put it on the winder so it is ready to go when I need it.   To me it is the most useful complication to me now.

How about you?

probably the chronograph on my speedy.  Always using it to time stuff for cooking, and it's a nice play toy/fidget thing to fiddle around  with when bored

Yeah, the chronograph is a favorite complication for many folks and a must-have for any collection.  I saw that your profile photo is one of the best chronographs :)

Personally, I tend to throw on a watch whenever I'm out of the house. Usually, it's to run a errand or to grab some food so I like to time how long it takes for me to get back home. In that case, a diving bezel to track elapsed minutes or even better, a digital stopwatch function for more precision.

I know chronographs can do the same thing, but I don't like to leave the chronograph running for over 30 mins when I'm not really gonna be looking at the smaller subdials until I get home.

·

It's not really a complication but rotating bezels are pretty handy.

·

Agree too that the diving bezel is quite handy in tracking time :)

·

Funny you've identified this - it's quite true... My favorite classic movement is the GMT as well... but my iPhone now has 7-8 different time-zones configured on the clock to quickly remind me of where all my co-workers are.

·

The most useful complication for me is the chronograph. I find it really handy to be able to time something with a quick push of a button. I use it regularly to time myself when doing Sudoku puzzles., but always seem to find other excuses to use it when I'm wearing one.

I also find that a date complication can be very useful, but I only like them if they are positioned in such a manner that they don't upset the balance of the watch design.

Yeah, for real work, it is best to use the computer and iPhone.  For personal matters or vacations, we may use our watches :)

Thanks for the comment!  Yeah, the chronograph is for sure the favorite complication for many people.  I often use it for my workouts.  I'd love to get an alarm watch one day, as it would be fun and useful.

I have an old Benrus WristAlarm. It's pretty cool, but the alarm is too discrete.

diving bezel helps when cooking and or while out in the streets walking or waiting for a client to arrive for appt meet up in person....;o)

Agreed on the utility of a world timer complication. The main issue I have is that most aren’t legible in reading the primary time, since the dial is so busy with cities. Most of the time, I’m glancing at my watch to see the time, so that is of utmost importance to me.

The Omega is a rare exception — the dial is supremely legible for the primary time and seeing the other time zones is also easy. Very few get this right (Farer also does), but the Omega is great!

·

Thanks for the comments and I totally agree!  It is a design challenge to have so much information on the dial.

I have heard from friends who have owned other world timers such as Patek that the city ring may rotate too.  This way, the home town city may be placed at 12 0'clock.  For Omega piece, the city ring is fixed.  I'll wait for the chance to check out one of these other watches some time :)

I really like rotating bezels. I can use a chronograph when i cook, but i feel like a bezel is the best way (for me) to time stuff. Also, i get the feeling that i can actually ''play with my toy'' and that's nice haha!

·

From the comments here, you are definitely not alone in enjoying the rotating bezels. It is very handy.  When I went swimming in the past, I would use it to time how I had been in the pool.  Take care!

·

I love GMT complications. But I think the most useful dual time function for me is the humble 12 hour dual time bezel.

·

It's got to be the chronograph. I like the feeling that my watch does more than tell the time (especially as price of the watch goes up). Chronographs have the most tangible feeling. Plus I have to time lots of small increments of time for my job

·

There is a JLC Polaris Chronograph WT, it has 100m WR, so it seems like the perfect watch to me. Trening in this direction I think, as above, World Timer/GMT and Chronograph are helpful and exciting complications in a mechanical watch :)

·

I think the most useful is the day date function.

·

GMT for me. Love chronographs as well but they are far from useful. They are very fun to operate though.

Definitely for the weekdays!

·

Day-date (most of my watches have it) but World timer - yes I want one.

Omega Worldtimer shown here is my grail watch. If I ever manage to win at lotto or something I will buy one.

In my work I'm dealing with people from around the world in the same time (like customer is in South Africa, some support is in USA and manager in New Zealand) while I'm in Ireland.

Having world timer watch helps to find out what time is for person you are talking with.

·

Day-date is quite useful during the weekdays.  I hope that you will get the Omega world timer one day.  it is still a lot of money, but compared to other world timers, it is relatively affordable. It is a very good value in my opinion.  Take care!

the power reserve in hand winding watches

·

It is certainly very useful!

·

I know some folks like a clean dial, but I gotta have a date function for my day to day.
