In a previous post, I explained that the chronograph complication on my B&M Capeland isn't working properly. While the watch is working fine, and the chronograph appears to work, the chrono minutes register doesn't reset properly. So one minor thing, but it's a chronograph. I've had it repaired at my local jewelers but haven't picked it up yet, but I know what the bill is.
I'm curious as to what others think it will be, so I created this poll.
Chain or independent? In-house repair or sent out?
I said 200-299 but I wouldn't be surprised if it was more.
90% of the watchmakers out there just change batteries and the other 10% have to charge handsomely to keep their doors open. Parts are crazy expensive and insane expensive for vintage. Service around $300.00 plus parts.
I recently did a complete service on my omega Speedmaster with main spring change.. $700
I know getting a Valjoux 7750 is around $750 for a service, so have to vote >$299 for a repair to the chronograph module.

Sounds right. Lsst year a full Speedy service with no parts replaced was $450 at Sam's (5⭐️) in the DTLA jewelry district.
Full service on a mechanical chronograph is going to be more than $299. I had by Breitling done at Breitling awhile back, and I think that was $750 or thereabouts. I would expect a minimum of $650. A chronograph is more work, and the price is justified, IMHO.
Recently had my Heuer CS3113 serviced and it was $875…yes servicing chronographs are VERY expensive…expect $700+ every time
If you can get it done for <$700, count yourself lucky.
According to Baume & Mercier, the recommended USA price for fully servicing a mechanical chronograph without complications is $505.
Way more, sorry!
That's why I avoid mechanical chronograph's.
Very expensive to maintain.

independent, in-house
I didn't get full service as the watch is running fine. Remember, though it's 6 yrs old, it only gets worn 1/8 (more or less) of the time. I agree with Fed, "Don't fix it if it ain't broke."
Here's the magic number, $60! That's it. I don't know if the owner gave me a break because I'm a watch nerd too, or that's just how he does business. I'm just thanking my lucky stars and buying a lottery ticket today.😉
