30th Birthday - new watch recommendations

Hello crunchers,

In july im getting the big 30. Im quite into the idea of getting a remarkable watch for this special day of mine.

Its hard to choose for real. Budget will be around 5-6k€. And i got the feeling i want it to be a big brand or a stunning complimation. Or maybe a watch from my birthyear?

Got an eye at these:

  • new tudor BB58 gmt (wish wont be available im summer i guess)

  • BB58

  • Tudor Ranger

  • Grand Seiko Snowflake quartz

  • Grand Seiko SBGW231

  • Grand Seiko SBGM 221 GMT

What do you think, any other recommendations? 🧐

Thanks 😊

I'm a big Oris fan, depends if you want dress or diver? Diver go Oris Aquis dress snowflake, cheers

I had this milestone a few months back, and took good long while to decide. I too thought I wanted a big name brand/luxury brand, mostly looking at Oris, Tudor, Longines, etc. After much searching, however, I ended up with a King Seiko that I've been delighted with. I had to go to ADs, try stuff off, see what I liked. Point I'm trying to make is, don't box yourself in, just because you have the budget for something doesn't mean you're required to spend that much. Buy what you like, within your means, and please please please try things on!

65 diver, Aquis GMT, pointer date

Birth year watch 👍 So many to choose from. Will never date and will always be relevant. You could get a nice Santos or Seamaster.

·

What ever makes you tick 😁

Happy birthday. Can’t really go wrong with any of them but I think stay away from quartz. To me mechanicall is always more special. Go to go with your heart not what none of us say but maybe the Tudor Ranger. Something pricy and special like that you want to be highly flexiable for any outfit or situation so you never have to take it off

·

Get the GS SBGW231 👍🏽

·

If you’re looking at the Tudors I’d consider the Pelagos too.

·

Tudor, Fortis or Omega would be the brands I would go for at that budget or Longines/Grand Seiko for something more dressy.

The overall design and bracket is a beauty mate

Go with a Grand Seiko or birth year watch. After watching the latest Tudor ad, I can't take that brand seriously right now.

·

Hey Michael,

Advanced happy birthday!

I took a look at your photos and it seems like you have a solid diver (conquest), field/pilot (556i). I don’t think I saw a dressier watch nor a GMT so my suggestion would be to really consider the BB58 GMT (such a beaut) or the Grand Seiko GMT (I’ve only ever handled the SBGX261 but the quality of that one vs a comparable Longines Conquest I was considering was noticeable).

Regardless of which you choose, I think you’ll end up with a great watch :). 🍻

·

Based on your b-day balloons - Celebration dial Rolex...???? 41MM expect to pay way too much - grey market... Seriously though. The Ranger is a great watch for the money. I bought one for my son in law last Christmas and it is GADA for him...

·

In looking at what you have now, a diver, chrono, pilot, I think the BB 58 or the GS sbgm221 would look great!

·

Half of your wishlist is Grand Seiko; I’d say that means something. Having just bought one myself two months ago (the Shunbun SBGA443/413), I know it’s such a stunning watch brand to own. Whatever you get, it’ll always be tied to your 30th, so you really can’t go wrong between those.

·

Doing 30 in 2 years and if I can get it at retail i'm going for a Rolex Explorer 36mm

·
·

I have an original Tudor GMT and an Omega Seamaster 300m. Both are GREAT watches. If you want dressier but still awesome - Omega Aqua Terra (have one of these too and love it).

·

Grand Seiko shunbun would be my recommendation 👍🏻

·

By the ones you're eye-balling, I think the new GS Snowflake might fit the bill. It doesn't have the power reserve on the dial, a sticking point for many. Not sure if it's quite within your budget though.

·

Omega Aqua Terra 👍

·

Hmmm maybe 6 seiko 5s since 5*6=30 🤔

·

Tudor BlackBay 58 would be a solid choice
