Are you done and satisfied with your collection right now?

I feel like I have come to the point where my interest has plateaued and am not looking to add any more pieces. Not looking forward to new releases nor hunting for great bargains. I am done for now (until a piece jolts my senses LOL). I would like to get a idea where crunchers are in their journey and if I am in the minority.

I have pieces I’d love to own but just couldn’t justify buying even if I had the money… maybe that changes down the road. That said, much like yourself, unless something pops up that really starts ticking my boxes than I am pretty comfortable with my collection right now. 🤙

I'm at the stage where I'm asking the question: "Why would I buy this new piece in preference to a similar piece I already have in my collection?"

I'm also - sadly, for my bank balance - at the stage where I find I actually can afford those watches that I previously thought were impossibly far out of my price range.

So, I'm in the smaller-number-of-higher-end-watches phase, I guess.

All of these options suggest, that there is actually an end?

E). It's never done!

I am contented.

.. although i’ve started flirting with the Omega AT white, Chopard Alpine Eagle, G Shock GMWB5000, seiko spb317, Rolex 116710, bell and ross BR126, pam177,GS SBGE283  and many many more🤡

Yup! Here's to abstinence 😅

I'm just looking for one perfect watch. Plus one perfect beater watch.

Congratulations! I try as possible to give all my watches equal wrist time. But I confess I have some favorite pieces. But somehow I still miss the rest from time to time and also want to take them out for a spin. 😊

Ohh I'm sorry my friend. Didn't mean to leave you out of the poll. I definitely agree there should be a option "E" as you have pointed out. 👊

Flirting with fire... good luck my friend. 😂

It takes a lot of courage and determination sir. Good luck! 😉

·

I don't need more watches. But I can improve what I have.

... or convince my son that he needs to wear watches, so they are technically not mine. ,😉

·

Ah nuts, meant to hit B. I want a couple of other watches, I got my eye on a Swatch. Maybe a couple of different G Shocks, I also want a Japanese diver, but something a but more than my usual budget. There's a sick Citizen I saw and had to pry off my wrist a while ago that looks like it's from the future, not mechanical but eco drive is still good. Maybe one of those retro inspired Timex might be cool.

I should be pleased with my collection since it's supposed to be me end-all-be-all collection.. You wanna know something super secret? Ok, I might keep saving up for something big for my 40th birthday or my 50th 🤭 (That's 5 or 15 years away, so chill)

Nice, I like that idea. Something biiiiiiiiggggg is on the horizon. 😉

·

You should have told me this when I was just at 4 pieces sir! 😂

I think I'm good for now. Anything after this will take a long while or me..selling..🥲 some of my collection. 10 is a good number, right? Right?

Yup. I would agree. Pretty close to my own idea of 7-8 following a 4x per month rule of wrist time. 😉

hbein2022

Well yes and no. I'm still trying to get my son into watches, and haven't quite given up yet. 😉

Good luck with that sir. I hope he catches the bug later on. 👍

Ah yes. The perfect 39mm rose gold 3 hander dress diver in a 41mm ceramic case  with chronograph subdials that perfectly match the tone of the grade 5 titanium rubber strap with screw links. It goes without saying that the hand finished manual wind automatic movement visible through the solid engraved display caseback offers a power reserve of at least 80 hours, and the whole 10mm thick package has a WR rating of 200m or more. Readily available at MSRP, but you can easily double your money when you go to sell, based on after market prices.

That would have been awesome sir! 😂

I'm still building it up. I had thought that at this point my collection's growth would slow down, and I would go for slightly more upmarket pieces to upgrade on certain watch types. Instead it has speeded up (bought 8 watches this month) and I actually went downmarket. That was mostly me noticing gaps in my collection with quartzes in general and digital watches in particular. Not sure where I go from here...

Wow! I'm sure you will find your way soon enough sir. As we all say here, buy what you want and wear what you want. 😉

I guess not many would be willing to downsize. Whew, at least I am not in the minority. 😊

I started with a goal of having a ‘watch for every occasion’.  I determined that 9 was the minimum optimal collection size between styles and dial colors.  Today my final piece arrived, and my collection is perfectly satisfactory to my needs and desires.

Always on the grind for new watches..the fun never stops!!

My collecting which includes purchases and sales is like the tide, sometimes in…. Sometimes out…. But always going to be there.

I’ve tried the “one watch” and the “three watch” challenge and had some success……. What I mean is I’ve lasted a week tops.

I now hover around ten watches with a one in one out policy which seems to be as settled as I can get.
