Reminiscing the Journey

I believe to some extent we are content with our current collection (who am I kidding) or still on the way to building that ideal group of watches that we strive for (until our tastes would change once again).

Looking back at the watch journey I have taken thus far from childhood, puberty and adulthood, I try to remember all the brands I have owned and worn through the years before getting to where my collection is right now.

These 3 brands stand out in my otherwise hazy memory of late. I was really big on TW Steel in my early work life which I guess explains my propensity for larger cased watches. My dress watches were mostly from Kenneth Cole. These watches however never lasted very long but I kept buying replacement pieces from these brands. I was thinking back then that for the money I paid for them, 2-3 year life was somewhat fair.

I once had an Alba my father gave me during my childhood up to teen years which lasted way longer, the brand being under the Seiko umbrella. Could not remember exactly what happened to it now. But I am sure I ran that thing until it last breath before graduating to and buying myself my first Seiko divers watch, the SDN-001.

What brands do you remember indulging in from your watch journey? This should be fun... 😀🙄😜

That brand only came later to PH. But I have seen good designs in boutiques from the brand currently. 🤗

Ive stayed pretty true on my journey, its who I am: Casio Seiko Swatch. Call me a boomerang buyer, but here I am chasing older Casio, Swatch Seiko styles. The higher end swiss happened to me too in the journey (boxes have been checked: Rolex Omega so during my mid-life ive drank from that, but now, Im fine chasing the hobby with these early staple brands.

Wow, that is some journey. I remember getting my first Casio in high school. It was the calculator watch with game function much like space invaders! I would play the game as often as I can whether in class or break periods. 😂

Thx man. Hundreds of watches in now. Some in the safe others out in the wild for me, so my wruw. Mainly budget beater beauties. As u say the past directs and forms your future (in everything, even life) so these old brands are u whether ppl say they change with affluence, theres a tinge of that Defender playing, surf-skate punk watch-wearing kook walking amoungst u all in airport mileage lounges :)

Yup, very true! We always tend to return to our roots or at least look back to how we preferred things to be no matter the graduations that happen in our lives. These things would always affect or influence our choices down the road in small or huge scale. 😉

I have a love affair with Festina. Every time I see one come up at auction I bid on it. I have only bought the same model twice once. 😂 Festina is a company of their own. I never see them copy anyone. They use their own original designs. This is one reason why the love affair goes on. 😂
