Longines Hydroconquest

This is by far a watch that has no backstory. I was looking for a rugged daily wear watch and this quite did the thing for a good amount of time but I think I've slowly fallen out of love on this one.

Maybe it's because I saw the Tudor Pelagos during one of my trips.

I need a new daily driver and I am afraid wrist time to this one will be very less going forward

That's a shame... I love my Hydroconquest and is my favourite watch in my collection.

That’s a hell of a predicament to have. But the heart wants what the heart wants…

Me too, it's a great watch for the price.

Life plays tricks on us, I have a former colleague who wanted a Rolex Sub but was supporting his daughter studying medicine in America, simply could not justify a superfluous trinket for himself. He bought a Longines Hydroconquest on bracelet, talked endlessly about his sacrifices for his adored daughter. The child graduates becomes a md marries another specialist gifts her dad a ceramic white dial Daytona that she buys new from a well known grey market seller here in Toronto. Of course my old friend wears his Longines except on some days when he meets with his daughter and her spouse. Tells me he wants a Sub, lol!

This is why I would never buy a watch for somebody else and why I hope nobody ever buys me a watch (again). I remember when I turned 18 (a LONG time ago) and my parents bought me a digital watch to celebrate the occasion. I was devastated because I hated digital watches but of course I had to pretend to be pleased and make sure I wore it whenever we were together.

I have both myself the longines and the Tudor and I don’t wear the longines as much now as I wear my Tudor for work more often and keep the longines for best as it’s a bit more dressy

Different price segment but that's quite similar to how I feel about my Mako II. I got it as my first rugged watch, it was my daily driver for a while but..

Tudor's destroying relationships.

Even though I don't collect other brands, I love Longines watches. I can't imagine ever getting sick of that beauty. Maybe wear something else and go back it. Not sure the size of your collection, but don't get rid of that one and you can have the best of both worlds.

I think my friend is just nostalgic for the good old days when he supported his family! I am just happy that my kids do not need me for every day stuff anymore. My wife knows that I have particular choices so she gives me dollars or more often nothing!! I prefer the nothing.

To be honest , I am looking at getting a Hydroconquest. I love the look the simplicity and especially the value for what you get.. So much so I bought an homage for $80 just to see if it would appeal to me. The Tudor is a great watch but, the Longines to me is beautiful and more affordable for some of us.

Shame, for me prefer it to the Tudor.

I also own a blue dial Tudor Pelagos but not sure this ceramic HydroConquest isn’t more interesting.

I love my HQ. I have the 41mm blue on bracelet and it was my daily d[r]iver for well over a year, just an awesome watch. Now I really want to get other watches, such as a Pelagos and a PloP someday, and can’t justify having the HQ when I know I’ll wear the others more. It’s great, but I need to move on. Tastes change!

My predicament is that I used (read: loved) the watch so much it got a couple little dings and I’m not sure how much resale value it holds anymore. Not a deal breaker, and obviously expected, but still kind of a downer.

I love my grey Hydroconquest. I just wish Longines would produce a decent clasp which was retrofittable to the bracelet.
