Citizen Skyhawk - The Hawk Has Landed

Honestly it's too big and I'm probably going to use maybe 5 functions but ...

I got this as my work watch. Actually was looking at the Prodiver but...

Love how light it is (titanium) and how maximalism it is. I mean it's an aviation watch with too much WR (200m). It has lume and backlight. It tracks 3 time zones, and calibrates via radio signal every night. And yet the time is very legible.

On top of that a great experience at the outlet, and a great discount, what else can I ask for?

The quartz might not have a soul, but it sure is a lot of fun.

Looks fantastic. Should be getting my first Citizen today as well this just increases the anticipation. 😄

Great buy. Don't worry about the size if you like it rock it. Also in my opinion solar quartz are way more tool watches vs a mechanical.

·

Maximalism to the MAXTREME!  Love it.  Totally badass.

Nothing wrong with quartz, especially for accuracy and a bonus of being a solar quartz, no battery changes in your life time anyway.

Great watch and I'm sure it will wear better than you think.

I think once you can get past that "oh it's quartz" mindset, Citizen probably is best bang for buck. Excited for you as well!

Thank you. It's definitely, most positively a tool watch so I'm not too concerned about the size 😁 Agree with you on quartz watches being better tool watches than mechanical ones!

Thank you! Surprised myself really, I thought I wouldn't like it until it was on my wrist.

Thank you! Nothing wrong, more right than mechanical in many ways I think with quartz 😁 Looking forward to wearing it, yes!

If you have a mechanical you still need a quartz to keep it accurate or check your phone. Quartz don't have the same lifespan but you can't beat them.

·

I would own a ton of those watches if I could get over the size.

Other than frequent-ish battery changes, can't good quartz movements also be serviced and last a long time? I suppose time will tell.

It's freak-ishly big but the short lug-to-lug makes it wearable. Plus it's a modern day flieger, I'm down with large sizes for these!

*addendum: I also had the same thought about size before trying it on by the way!

Most quartz movements cost under the price of the first half hour of the watchmakers time.

Yeah, unfortunately it doesn't quite work for me. I grew up with dress watches, and the watch I wore the most has a 34.5mm case diameter. I have a 40mm case/28.5mm dial watch on my wrist at the moment, and it looks big to me. A short lug-to-lug makes a watch wearable, but the watch still seems big.

Why "tool" instead of "time"?  I certainly do prefer the "look" of some watches over others, but I LOVE solar watches, especially "radio" or GPS varieties.    I am wearing a Citizen Blue Angels Promaster  (Model CB0147-59L/Caliber H145 ), with Ti bracelet and case, solar/radio/sapphire.   It will be years before I have to worry about accuracy or whether the hands will keep moving.   find it very comfortable and easy to read.  A Time Watch.

I think it's evident that Citizen definitely spends time not only on the functionality but the aethetics and overall design of the watch for their Promaster line. Granted I am no pilot, but I think this watch should fulfill most of their needs.

And there's something for non-professionals in these watches too. As you've mentioned, accurate time and easy to read dial, even with all the clutter.

Love my Blue Angels, purchased from a fellow watch nut.  Easy to pick out the hands despite all the "stuff"  on the face.

It's a difficult feat they achieved, yes!

I like that box that comes with it.

It's quite nice! Bit bulky but could do as a travel watch case 😁
