Which strap option do you like the best for a green Seiko Willard?

Lately I've been playing a lot with the straps for my Willard - for me that watch is the very embodiment of the term "strap monster". I've got something like 5 rubber straps from Uncle Seiko, a green Artem sailcloth (that looks nice, but I find too stiff) and now I'm experimenting with nylon straps.

Above you'll see my current favorites. Out of them I like the MN-style strap (by The Watch Steward) the most in terms of comfort, and the perlon by Crown & Buckle the most in terms of color and how it pairs with the watch. I'm a bit "meh" on the NATO (also by Crown & Buckle) - looks and feels good, but I never liked the look of the excess material much.

What's your favorite out of those 3 options? In there a different strap you'd recommend for the Willard?

I like the one with the stripe.

The Marine Nationalé wins for me 💯

The MN style

I like the MN most, but I think a classic green with yellow or red stripe would look best.

Its a tricky one, the green does limit strap choices.

I recommend Watchgecko Zuludiver NATO straps, or for originality CWC mil-spec sewn in buckle elastic NATO's.

Im not a fan of rubber/silicone straps so can't help there.

I like a bracelet on mine TBH, I'm fortunate enough to have the 151 & 153, & much prefer the black one's bracelet on the green one - imho they released them the wrong way round!

Don't worry too much about lug width either, here's a pic of mine on a 22mm NATO, fits ok & looks alright (Zuludiver sharktooth NATO 22mm)

I agree! Looks slick and comfy.

They all look great!

No wrong answer on the 3, but I prefer the perlon

·

This is an awesome watch, what's the model no.?

I am a perlon fan. Distinctive look, plus the lack of holes means you always get a good fit.

I also don't like the excess material NATO look. Not at all. It looks terrible. Really really seriously really absolutely just plain bad. For some reason that look reminds me of an unattractive woman in the 1960s with a bad beehive hairdo.

Tropic rubber is the go to for this piece.

I do agree it's a lovely watch, but the fact that you only go for green tones, kinda debunks the strap monster claim. A strap monster means almost any strap or any color will surely look nice. Don't be afraid to try browns and black straps, as I think those will go well with it too. I would even try a red strap to play off the red on the seconds hand.

I already have 4 rubber black straps for it, that's why I went in the green direction with the next batch of straps. I agree it will work nice with brown. Probably orange will look nice as well.
