Titanium Divers

Don’t really need one but I’m interested in trying a titanium diver. Since I love my Black Bay 58, grabbing a Pelagos 39 naturally made since. However, I could capture similar vibes for a fraction of the price with the Certina DS Action Diver 38. What do you think? Anyone have hands on experience with both?

I’m not sure of your vibe, but if you are open to pre owned, there are some amazing ones out there. Three from left field, maybe a tad larger, but all titanium divers on bracelet form very well regarded brands.

Definitely considering used. I like the Breitling, how big is it?

It’s big, I mean big, wears well, but it’s an old school full 44.

I had it’s super quartz chrono brethren with pushers that are operational underwater. I want to say they are like 15-17 mm thick. Def a watch that wears better than it sounds.

Yikes, definitely don’t want to go bigger than the Seamaster

The Sinn T50 might be worth a look.

Pelagos FXD is another option, if I was getting a Pelagos it would be an FXD

The issue with Tudor's titanium watches is that they use Grade 2 titanium, which unfortunately can't be polished or refinished. To have that option within The House of Wilsdorf, one would need to opt for Grade 5 titanium, like the kind used in Rolex's Yacht-Master 42. While the Yacht-Master's RLX titanium offers the durability and refinishing capabilities I prefer, its size is slightly too large for my taste, ruling it out as a personal purchase. Nevertheless, I'm eager to see it up close next week at Watches and Wonders in Geneva.

B, and sell the BB, they almost look alike with snowflake hands and a diver to me anyway.

My man, I have no experience with any of those watches…. What I do have experience with is with settling for a watch that’s not the one you really wanted, it does not end well… If you can afford the Pelagos, go for it. Even if you have to wait anf save for a bit longer.

Good advice! In this case Certina is not a cheaper substitute for the Pelagos, I’m genuinely interested in both.

The certina 38mm is pretty neat. It checks a lot of boxes and has great specs on paper. But if you already have a bb58, which is better built, I think you will find it quite underwhelming. Putting it side by side with a more expensive watch, it is easy to notice the difference in quality and feel. I have nothing negative to say about it given the price though, except that bracelet is noticeably less quality compared to the head, and I sometimes wear it on a nato.

Good feedback, thanks! I don’t like bad bracelets.

I might be alone in this but I like the idea of a heavy watch so the lightness of titanium hasn’t really spoken to me. Also like the scratches the watch picks up lol but I might be crazy
