Which Seiko Samurai rules them all ?

The Seiko Samurai for many Seiko fans holds a special place in their collections , and now the King Samurai with the sapphire and ceramic bezel insert upgrade looks and feels even better . I owned several of these watches and currently my collection is limited to these three .

Generally, never been a fan of the all-black look of some Seiko limited editions but the all-black King Samurai looks so stealth and sexy. It evoques the B-2 Spirit or F-117 Nighhawk to me

I never could wear a Samurai because this thing is fricking huge. But the 2023 PADI dials are my favorite by far. Before that I had a preference for the pingouins one.

for the longest time, I thought I wanted the all black samurai. Initially, I was trying to decide if I wanted the manta ray dial on the samurai or the turtle and decided with the turtle. I totally don't need the samurai but as a seiko fanboy, I felt the need to tick off the box for every model line (sumo is the only one that I'm not super compelled by atm). I was lucky to find the sumo model in this line to try on and I love the dial. Not so much the price, +1k for a 6r no thanks. Plan on picking up the new blue samurai in Japan for a steep discount

The Sumo has to be one of the largest Seiko divers on the wrist . I love the case shape , but I wish they would do it in 42-41 mm instead .

Well for me it’s the shu iro Ltd edition

reminds me a lot of the Omega Seamaster 300 in the same colors 👍

Def. the SRPH061

I love the ocean motif of the big blue, but I personally went with the SRPG21, since it looks a bit more “tooly” and utilitarian, to me.

I found this and still sourcing out parts for the build…

Really looking forward to it!

For me i went for the black on black, but from the options given i like the manta ray best! I would also recommend any king samurai owner to get the hexad bracelet from strapcode to go with it, simply elevates the watch to a whole other level!

IMO, the SBDA001J1 Titanium. 👍

·

Honestly if its a waffle dial & ceramic bezel combo the specific model or colors don’t matter. That combo just suits the case very well in my opinion. I am not a fan of most of the PADI collabs from Seiko as the image bearing dials mess up too much of the already limited symmetry. And PVD always has me concerned it will scratch deep enough to reveal the metal underneath.

For a watch that is a few hundred dollars worth , it's OK to scratch it . Just enjoy it
