So this is NOT a discussion you would enjoy having with my wife! So many "ladies" watches are just terrible. I think that most female watch enthusiasts gravitates towards "mens" and maybe smaller versions if availible.ย
I think so many cool watches misses out when releasing only one size at 40mm or more. Many guys likes smaller watches too. So if a company should release several sizes if they got a popular model.ย
That's my opinion at least โบ๏ธ

I am certain my wife agrees. ย She has a small Omega Constellation and a small Rado Integral. ย Both of these models are available in several sizes, materials and colours to suit anyone.
The rest of her collection is all menโs watches. ย She does enjoy wearing a wide variety of sizes. ย She also has a number of vintage cocktail watches that are practically too small to see but look great as jewelry in formal wear.ย
My wife and I have almost the same wrist size and I offer her my watches all the time if she feels like wearing something else aside from her Apple Watch. ย We both have a Cartier Santos-Dumont and she got the size medium and have the Large off course ๐. But in hind sight since she like I think better might just trade in for bigger sizeโฆ
I think a size variation of 38-41mm is great like Longines/Tudor/Rolex of the same watch is great!
I couldn't agree more!
Exactly right. I see guys buying, supposedly womenโs watches and women buying guys watches. It was in an earlier post, were someone asked a very similar question, but it was more along the lines of โwhy are watches labeled Menโs and Womanโs watches.ย
For me if I like the watch enough and itโs not pink covered in fake diamonds, then sure why not. Way back when, guys watches were only 30 to 34mm and we do see a resurgence of that trend with some watch manufacturers now.
Wear what you like ๐ย

I think they could go lower. I think the way they solved nicely with the Blackbay 32/36/41 โบ๏ธ

Some watches would not be profitable in small or lagre. But "enthusiast" models should be I think ๐ค
Yeah, I just go for men's everytime. Like, some of the watches classified for "ladies" are just meh. Seriously. They should just remove the genderization (if thats a word lol) altogether and just call em watches. I have a 6" wrist and I can say 36-38 is like my favorite size so far, but I can wear a 42mm if needed.ย
Also I find watchmakers making ladies watches filled with diamonds or make a rose gold variation and just make it a "ladies watch". Not all women wear watches as a piece of jewelry ugh. But oh well... end of rant lol
Here is a 36mm Explorer on my wifeโs 5.5โ wrist. ย Itโs perfect. ย She has all the removable links removed to make it fit. Any wrist larger than this is a bonus.ย
Dang! ย She has bigger wrists than I do--the 36 mm would fit her beautifully.
I don't have a wife, but my dog is a good substitute. She keeps one of my watches up above her paw knuckle so it doesn't drag on the ground when we go for a walk.ย
It's Remember When time! ย Today, appropriately sized women's watches are so much larger than those popular 50 years ago. Good Lord... those were the size of my fingernail! Reading them was tough but repairing might as well been impossible. ย Lol

Here is the current range of my wifeโs collection. ย She rocks both and everything in between.
My point exactly. ย ย
You know, it's funny. In theory, I agree that watches should really be unisex. However, in practice, I wind up buying many watches specifically designed for women because those are the watches my wife likes. She loves Swarovski crystals, diamonelles, fancy dials, and decorated rotors.

Huh, learn something new everyday, thanksย

Nothing wrong with that. I'm just for more options and breaking the mould a little ๐
My wife likes the menโs sizes better. She beats em up like me and doesnโt want a watch that is too dainty.ย
I posted this in 'The thread that shall not be named' a bit ago when we were discussing the gendering of watches by companies:
"I wonder if the watch industry continues to have designated male/female watches for the average Joe/Joanne Bloggs who just needs a gift for their significant other and doesn't want to go through a drawn out process of 'But what does 36mm mean? Will that be too big for him? What the hell is that measurement anyway??'
We sometimes forget that the watch enthusiast community only makes up a tiny proportion of watch buyers and companies will want to make it as easy as possible for everyone else to buy their product. Hopefully they will not take this easy way out forever."
If you think about it, the pool of people buying watches who are actual enthusiasts is very small. The number of those enthusiasts who are ladies, smaller still. I feel bold enough to say that most ladies will be buying a watch as a jewellery piece (fair play, nothing wrong with this), and so the market caters to this.
I think when you become a watch enthusiast (of either the male or female variety) is when you become blind to the men's/women's labels and just wear what you love.

I wouldn't call my wife an enthusiast. But "muggles" suffers from these old fasioned norms. Like my mother in law that actually wants a bigger watch so she actually read the time, but stays to a traditional size ....

My wife insisted that I keep things smaller when I got her a watch. ย She wound up with a 28.5mm Tissot Le Locle Double Happiness and loves it. ย I've suggested she try on some of my other pieces, but she finds them to be too heavy for her.

My woman needs strong wrist that can handle some size ๐คฃ
I am of two minds on this.
Around a year ago I recall scouring for a normal sized dive watch and finding acceptable women's models. As long as they ditch the sparkling gems, MOP dials, and 12mm bands, I'm fine with it. But as we all know, the average woman's analog watch is something like 44mm today.

That was a lot of emotions... And not sure that several of those points is true, but you are free to have your opinion โบ๏ธ
