Heelp!! Iceberg ahead ๐ŸงŠ

So I'm saving for a Grail even I don't know what watch I want and where to cut of my budget quite yet.

This fairly decent condition Omega Seamaster Professional 300/The Goldeneye(quartz) pops up for around 1500$. The same model usually goes for about 2000$ with original bracelet on Norwegian second hand market. I will never wear it on the original bracelet anyways, I think it's an abomination...

If i get cold feet I suspect I can sell it for about the same price. An the price has actually doubled from retail to now. It was just over 1000$ when it came out. So it seem like a model that keeps it's value pretty good for an Omega.

Done some research, but are there anything specific to look out for? Sounds like a decent deal?

Golden Eye is first Bond movie and I remember having a 1-1 replica toy gun from the movie ๐Ÿ˜ And who can forget the video game?

This would set med back savings wise for a real Grail, but I kinda want this one. But it might be one of those things that passes?

Input? Help please?

Give it a few weeks. Look at it every day and if you feel the same way then as you do now, pull the trigger. I am tempted by the same one but would rather save and get the most recent Seamaster 300 that is my grail watch. Thatโ€™s just me though. You do you!ย

Iโ€™d give it 3-5 days and if you still feel the same way pull the trigger on it. I agree that it sounds like a pretty good deal, and I can assure you that omegaโ€˜s quartz movements are great.ย

I have been looking at it.. It's probably with in my comfort zone, meaning I could use this at the gym or working outside. Had a Oris 65 in the same price range but that was my "dresswatch" so I babyed it too much. I feel my most expensive watch should be my daily wearer ๐Ÿค”

I have been fortunate enough to have owned 3 Seamasters my first was the goldeneye model and I loved but I traded it in for the chronograph and then I traded that in for the 42mm ceramic that I still have, I have loved all of them for different reasons but I can safely say there will always be a Seamaster in my collection it is a fantastic watch

Well shit.... I dunno ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Seems like a model that keeps it's value at least. So what's the risk?

What is better with the newer ones? Except from the movement?

The looks and the facts that will last you long time if you take care of it.

The older SMPโ€™s hold value fairly well. You can track any of these over time via various sites and see price deviations. Like @JackieMoon_LMS said, if you still feel the way about this watch in a few weeks just go for it. If the romance is lost on wrist, you can always re-sell with minimal loss.ย
ย

My wife bought me an N64 with Goldeneye for Christmas last year so you know what my buying advice is.ย

He has to get back to me and answer some questions first.. But I will have a hard time holding back if everything seems clear.

I had my N64 from my childhood with this game and broke it out after I saw this. ย Nostalgia is real. Love that the watch is shown on the menus. Maybe thatโ€™s why we have such a strong draw to this watch ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The suggestions to wait a few days is good. Iโ€™ve had the 2252 in black on my watch list for years, and finally pulled the trigger this week. The want list is long, and if youโ€™re like me, letting go is hard so the accumulation kicks in without even trying. Enjoy it either way.ย

Forgot to mention: the bracelets that came with these (โ€œBondโ€ bracelets) are really cool. If you look at it side by side with a Bond NATO, youโ€™ll instantly see how they came up with the polishing/brushing design. Definitely a reason why this model is a little cheaper than normal I think.ย

ยท

If you trust the seller and are happy with the price then buy. ย I suggest checking e-bay also. ย There are a bunch of Omega available from Japan at good prices. ย I got a 2254.50 last year from a Japan seller and have been very happy. ย Just make sure you research the customs and get the valuations from the seller in advance of shipping so you can calculate the duty.
