Oorah. 🇺🇸

While my last post was a hooyah, this one’s an oorah (those who know, know).

I work at a university helping veterans use their GI Bill benefits and I have a Marine who is slowly getting into watches. He was the one who told me about Sangin Instruments months ago—he had deployed to the Sangin Valley in Afghanistan so it had a special meaning to him. 🪖

I know they sell out SUPER quickly and reached out to Sangin on my budding watch Instagram account before their last drop, not expecting a reply. True to form, the Overlords were gone fast, and I was bummed he’d missed out yet again. However, I got a DM response a few days later, and the guys at Sangin told me they’d be happy to hook up a fellow Marine! I put my veteran in touch with them and he received his Overlord last night.

The lugs are a bit too long on me, but it looks great on him! He said it’s even cooler now since he has a handful of buddies trying to get one who can’t. 😂 A little friendly competition adds to that already-sweet feeling of unboxing a new watch.

I’ll likely post some more thoughts on my Insta at some point, if anyone’s interested @minutemeg. Thanks, Sangin! 🇺🇸

Cool story.

·

Very cool of you to help him out like that!

·

That’s awesome! You deserve all the OORAH’s!

·

That’s so sweet of you! Although I’m not familiar with this brand it is a very nice looking watch. ❤️

Great story. Really cool GMT. I'm interested to include it in a shortlist of GMTs to choose from when I finally decide on getting one. Dimensions though, are important for me with a small wrist. What then are its dimensions? Thanks in advance.

I've been exploring the world of GMTs, and this one is VERY nice!

Well done for bagging one! 🎉👏

·

Thank you for helping the men and women who help use. Great story.

It’s 40mm, and the website says its length is 49mm, so I’m guessing that’s lug to lug. Thickness is 11mm. The lugs caused the watch to wear larger (though my wrists are around 5.75in, so take it with a grain of salt). And it comes on a Zulu strap which might have impacted the fit a little. Overall, it looks great up close and would be a good choice for a field watch/GMT.

Semper Fi! Thank you for sharing and helping a Marine receive an amazing watch! I sense some kind of watch auction we could get together to help the veteran community. 🤔 I think you are the right person to make that happen. "The Artist formerly known as @HotWatchChick69 and formerly-formerly @Omeganut" aka @Mr.Dee.Bater aka Brian is very experienced with charity watch auctions. His WC ID is actually part of his auctions. If you arent familiar with Brian he is worth looking at on WC. I'd be interested in donating a watch. I'd personally love a Sangin BUT I'd more than love to donate one for a great cause.

I’ve never thought about that! 🤔 Great idea. @Mr.Dee.Bater, let’s chat soon!

Thanks for the info, Meg. It does look cool, and I'll pit it against the others on the list and see how it fairs. 🍻
