I remember seeing an article online, maybe on the Art of Manliness style blog, that suggested that diver watches are considered appropriate with anything up to business formal. Since it sounds like the office is pretty casual, the rubber strap probably isn’t an issue—though if you are concerned, consider switching out the rubber band with a nice leather band.
Then again, in my opinion, Certina is appropriate anywhere, anytime :-)
I also clean about once a year. I use Chamberlain's #2 Cleaner and Chamberlain's #1 leather balm to clean and then condition the leather. Pretty happy with it, though I suspect it is just another form of saddle soap and mink oil. The leather will darken...
The 1965 DS was one of the first watches in my collection -- I started going after Certina watches after being introduced to them in Switzerland. It was my daily wear watch for a long time -- though truthfully I haven't been giving it enough wrist time in recent years.
