Help needed

I’m in possession of a CW Sealander 63 GMT and a CW Twelve. Only one will make the cut, which? I’m leaning one way then the other. Thoughts please.

The Sealander might have more staying power long term in case the integrated bracelet trend fades.

·

Keep the Sealander. It’s much more versatile and I believe will stand the test of time.

That’s what I’m thinking, but am I bothered about the trend or whether I just enjoy wearing the Twelve. I can’t decide if I’ve been influenced by all the hype around integrated bracelets or whether I would have purchased this either way.

I think you’re right it will, but there’s something about the slope of the bezel that’s distracting and affects the legibility of the 24 hour markers in some lights.

The Twelve will go out of fashion, the Sealander won't.

·

Keep the sealander. If you like white dial, swap it with my white sealander.

The Twelve is a nice watch for sure. But I feel the hype has died down and we’re in the parody phase (see the PRX digital) of things.

Aside: it’s like movies, first you have the original, then you have the reinvention, then you have parody, then something new. Think James Bond>Austin Powers and Star Wars>Space Balls.

Never imagined this would end up at Space Balls! I like you’re analogy though.

We’ve gone to plaid…

Ha ha, that’s particularly fast!

I like The Twelve more.

I like The Twelve more.

Finally, a vote in favour of the Twelve, was seeming pretty one sided.

I like The Twelve more, but I also think it would be the better watch to keep long-term. The Sealander, no doubt, is a great watch. But I feel like there are a lot more watches like the Sealander (Automatic GMT, sunburst dial, stainless steel bezel, etc.) than there are like The Twelve (a relatively affordable integrated bracelet with a really interesting dial). Just my two cents.

·

Sealander hands down. Don't care for integrated bracelets.

·

GMT of course… serves 2 functions.. travel watch to keep track of home time and day night indicator when not traveling.

Is that function over looks, or GMT regardless of looks?

GMT regardless.. one additional point.. you can buy a rubber band to match GMT hand and add whole another look without buying a new watch..

Here is an example:

Gotta go with 'Twelve' for my money.

·

Keep the gmt. No question.

·

Unpopular opinion here 🫣

I really don't like the twelve.

My vote is 100% for the sealander

·

Appreciate your candour. I guess it isn’t for everyone. I would say it looks nicer in person, but the GMT looks good in the metal and in photos.

·

I ain’t no poet but,

It has to be

The sixty three 👍🏻

Sealander

Easy win for the C63 in my book. Much better looking than the twelve, more versatile /future-proof.

It’s sort of the classic vs unique choice, though the coloring on the Sealander veers it towards unique as well. The Sealander will look pretty cool on any number of straps and I’m a habitual strap swapper so that goes far for me.

Conversely the 12 is crazy looking! The dial and alternating finishes on the case and bracelet look really stunning.

My question with these sort of 1v1 showdowns is ‘what’s the rest of the watch box look like?’

If you have a handful of more normal looking watches maybe the 12 will be a nice change up once a week. If you currently own a G-Shock and a chunky diver maybe the more versatile Sealander would be a better pick.

That’s the SOC at the moment. The Twelve probably fills a gap more than the GMT, but the GMT is a stunning piece and difficult to let go I think.

Also the point about straps is a good one, as the Twelve is pretty limited from that view point I guess.

So you have an ample collection in every sense. I guess the only thing left is your personal attachment with them.

Reading your words it sounds like you lean towards the Sealander and honestly I think I do too.

·

Yes I think so, but it feels like I have the GMT function covered with the BB 58 Pro, though I have nothing quite like the twelve. I would love to keep both, but am thinking about reducing my collection anyway, like you say it’s ample, a bit too ample I think!
