I used to own a watch made in Ruhla. (Still do, but I disowned it because it became sort of kind of broken.) From what I can tell, Ruhla is (probably was at this point, I haven't seen anything come out of there recently) another great German watchmaking hub overshadowed by Glashütte.
Oh, and I love vintage LCD watches. I came so close to pulling the trigger on a Junghans the other day.

Very good buy. Wear it well!
Thank you, I will indeed wear it well! According to my limited research, Ruhla didn’t survive long after East Germany ceased to exist. That’s probably why a lot of people have never heard about the brand, even in Germany.

Wow, very interesting, and looks cool too!
Yeah, that thing rocked the Uhren- und Maschinenkombinat! 😀
Man, what a find! Unknown brand to me! 😎
Very nice congrats! How much did you need to invest?

It was $63 plus shipping, which wasn’t that much extra.
Nice looking watch
Very cool Cold War relic! 👍
Oh Lord. I just am so envious, my friend!

They are hard to find in decent shape, but they aren’t very expensive.

Outstanding find! These (Early digital) get way too little love in the watch community.
