Suggestions on sub 2000$ watches

Im graduating soon and I want to buy a nice watch as a gift to myself.

So far I’ve considered:

-Oris Big Crown Pointer Date

-Ball Fireman

-Ball Engineer 2

-Christopher Ward c12

-Longines conquest

-Tissor prx chrono(not feeling it too much)

I’m feeling the Oris the most out of these!! Does anyone have any recommendations for a watch under $2k?

The only parameters I have are:

Not a diver

Not too bulky

Preferably a sound automatic

Under 40mm

Any recommendations and feedback on any of the listed watches above is much appreciated!

All the watches you listed would be a good choice.

I like Ball the best but they don’t get a lot of love on here, makes me like them more though. 🌈

I happen to be selling a Ball Engineer III Marvelight. One of the limited Caring Editions. It a 40mm, chronometer certified. Might suit your fancy.

·

I'm a big fan of the oris too. There are so many good looking color combos for it. I want to buy one at some point. You like the red one best? I think I like the bluish green one most or the bronze case ones.

·

Those are awesome picks. The only way could maybe recommend one over the others would be occupation or lifestyle (i.e Ball if you're working around magnetic field or engineering) . Other than that, Oris would look great with business attire

They’re all good pics. Sounds like you like the Oris the most. Can’t blame you there.

Formex Essence 39 beats all of those IMHO. Slim, versatile, and impeccable finishing.

I would say take a look at the Monta Noble - great Swiss Made watch by a micro out of St. Louis, Mo. Top quality fit and finish, great bracelets, and quality dials with applied lume filled markers.

Definitely Monta!

The 36m Oris pointer dates are SO underrated. I’m considering one for myself - I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with that selection

Oris Big Crown. Amazing watch.

·

That oris is my grail, but prx chrono and conquest are also good choices

Solid choices you've made

·

That is a solid list of options. If you are looking at the Ball, I'd also suggest looking at the Sinn 556, which is 38.5mm and a very well made option.

·

I would choose the oris in red or the conquest in black (the new one, old one looks horrible)

Graduating is a milestone and special time in your life which you will look back in years to come. The watches you picked are great choices (personally my preferred are Oris and Ball Fireman) however the watch that represents the current moment in time from your list is the CW12. All the others are models from past years (i.e. history).

I actually have both Oris Big Crown in bronze 40mm & a Ball Engineer III Marvelight in 36mm you really can't go wrong with either one both are great watches.

I think ball generally will offer a bit more in terms of water resistance and anti-magnetic / anti-shock but at the cost of being thicker, additionally a lot of their watches have male end links leading to an overall bigger feel on wrist, whereas the Big Crown is quite thin and has female endlinks so it wears a bit smaller
