Lorier Falcon being hilariously off the beat

(I apologize for re-using the photo I've uploaded last time, since it hasn't seen any wrist time due to the reason you'll read below.)

I posted a few days ago that I've gotten a beautiful Lorier Falcon in.

Few days later, I noticed that the time was off by minutes. (I even set the time right to seconds) I thought it was odd, given that I am the first owner, and set it back to correct time. The next day, I noticed it was off again - by a couple of minutes!

I did the handy "wave your phone around with compass app on" trick to see if the watch was magnetized during travel, but that wasn't the case.

It's not that I'm not disappointed with Lorier or anything — I'm pretty sure it's just some regulation issue that Lorier forgot to do during QC. My first watch from the brand, the Gemini, was accurate to +2 seconds a day.

Although the watch comes with warranty, I still intend to visit my local watchmaker for a checkup, since I live in Seoul, and it's probably not the best idea to ship the watch around the half of the world just for regulation issue. I guess using a common movement has its perks — it probably would've been a pain in the butt if this was an in-house movement. 😬

That is unfortunate and sorry you have to deal with it.

It's a shame that I never had a "honeymoon period" with it — it's an awesome watch otherwise.

·

Sometimes shipping isn't that kind to watches. Hopefully it just needs an easy adjustment and you are good to go.

·

The shipping/handling, as others have noted, can also cause issues.

I am an unabashed Helm fanboy, yet my Komodo when I first got it had a very similar issue.

So I took it to a watch repair guy I use in DFW, TX when I was on leave. Fixed it right up. Granted due to the nature of Helm, paid extra for WR check.

I bought a used Lorier Neptune ii and it's also beautiful... but it just STOPS. If I'm not wearing it or if I fall asleep with it on it freezes. I haven't heard this being an issue with the NH35, but I'm assuming my warranty is expired. Too bad, they are really beautiful watches.

I think I remember your issues from another thread, did demagnetizing work?

It did not work! My watch guy opened it up and even regulated it for me, but didn't find the cause of the stopping. (Though now when it does run, it's even better lol)

Hmm, I know the SIII and SIV use a Miyota. Couldn't say on the SII. Have you contacted Lorier? Even if out of warranty, they are good ppl and might have suggestions.

I'm not a watch tinkerer/modder, the last thing I need to do is pick up another watch related hobby... But that's kinda weird, hopefully someone else with more knowledge can help out for both y'all's issues.

Worth a try.

Good luck 🤞

If it's just an NH35 movement in it, it's pretty simple to swap it for a new one. Cheap too.

I'm not a watchmaker or even a watch repairer really, but I've taken an NH35 movement apart and put it back together again half a dozen times, and there's not a lot to them. I think they were made to be disposable, but they are usually reliable and last for ages.

It's a Miyota 9S05 movement I believe, still should not be a difficult fix.

I'll also add, my SIII Neptune has been magnetized twice. Once was very subtle, and didn't show up super obvious, no clue how it happened. Local watch maker degaussed it, and then checked it with a multifunction timegrapher. Worked fine until the second time.

Second time was 100% user fault. If you wear your watch near large electromagnetic fields, stuff like auto watches gets magnetized. 🤷🏻

Everybody thank you for your comments!

I visited the watchmaker today and it turns out the watch was magnetized. Maybe I should get a demagnetizer for myself at this point. 🤷🏻‍♂️

·

Off beat in style and movement - I like it… thanks for the giggle

They’re like $12 on Amazon. If your watch is running minutes fast per day, I would try demagnetizing first.
