Breitling Superocean and Maratac SR-35 Totanium

We all like what we like. 

The reason I sleep with a watch is four fold. 

1. Spent 20 years in the military in combat arms and always had to have a watch on. So if I'm not wearing a watch I feel off.
2. If I wake in the night I don't have to roll over and raise up to see the time on a clock.
3. When traveling. Air/Train or Hotel I always have my watch on. You always don't have a clock readily available when traveling. Then there's the security of having it on you.
4.  Light. I hate external light sources in a room when going to sleep.  The watch even with phenomenal lume fades to a mellow glow that ends up uder the covers.  I just raise my arm slightly withou havin to roll over and there's the soft soft glow of the time. 

As for leather. It is incredibly resilient and long lasting. That is if you properly care and maintain it. I have leather straps on a dive watch and my saltwater fly fishing pliers sheath is leather. Both have been exposed repeatedly to saltwater and still look new. Shoes and boots are made of leather and undergo horrendous day to day treatment. Yet they are just fine. Just insure you clean use preventive and treat your leather regularly and it will last decades.

In 30 years of sleeping with a watch on I've never damaged one. This includes while on recon missions in the Middle East and Bosnia during arduous conditions. 

So while sleeping with your watch on isn't for everyone, this is why I do. Ciao
