How beat up do your watches get? I’m fine with a few scratches for character, but this being the most I’ve spent on a watch I can’t help but groan as...

Wow that’s pretty scary! It sounds far fetched but maybe you were sleepwalking? Ever heard of the carbon monoxide sleepwalking story from Reddit?

I see you’re a Seiko fan! I personally like the Alpinist. If you want suggestions for other brands, in terms of white dial three handers, take a look at the Christopher Ward Sealander Automatic, Lorier Astra, and Traska Commuter. All awesome watches that fit your budget!

I used to think the way you do. The watch I wore when my son was born: sold. The watch I wore for international trips: sold. I’ve sold multiple others that most watch collectors would say “hold memories”. I have since changed and I don’t know why. Maybe I’ve been influenced? I bought a watch to commemorate the birth of my son and had the caseback engraved. I’m for sure not selling that. The field watch I bought three years ago that I’ve taken on many memorable trips: not selling. To top it off, I rebought the same model of watch I brought on my international trips because I missed it and the feeling it gave me while on those trips. Now when I look at it I remember all those memories that were “attached” to the original. I don’t know, I can’t explain it.

Maybe for you, but not for the millions of other watch collectors.

Both are so freaking cool. With the Dune, maybe the clean bezel and “white” dial will make it feel larger than 38 on the wrist. I also really like the applied logo on the Dune.

Nobody is allowed to make green watches anymore now that Isotope made one. 🙄

I hate it when other collectors and people in watch media talk about buying expensive watches like its “graduating” or “taking the step” or “time to move up” or even “getting your first big boy/girl watch”. Why is there this implied journey where you need to keep moving up in price? Bugs the hell outta me.
