Should I feel guilty for liking off brand, Chinese and some just plain cheap watches? I’ll be honest I rock some of the AliExpress watches with NH35 movements and yeah I love them! Don’t get me wrong! I love the high end wrist bunny’s but something about a watch that looks good and yet I can still afford a double cheese at McDonald’s…that makes me sweat whew.

Love them all I say!
Enjoy your watches!
Me too. This wrist wears them all. No brand snobs here.
Whew! Glad I’m normal lol
Many points and the first is DO YOU. Now talking as an enthusiast if you like history heritage and some of their watches I say aim for that. Some watches are impossible to get and that's ok that's part of the hobby. I feel filling up your box with homages becomes a straight addiction. Many times I wanna pull the trigger just because of 50 bucks or 100 bucks (maybe I do for Christmas presents LOL). I have over 30 watches and I have a hard time selling and yet I don't wear them at all. I find this conflicting because I want to sell to get bigger pieces ( in heritage) this hobby is not cheap.
Regardless do what makes you happy some people like the simplicity of getting a homage. Me I get excited about heritage and history and maybe I can visit the factory and I jump through extended rabbit holes of information. Homages do not scratch the itch for me. BUT I HAVE FOUND some killer pieces on Aliexpress that I still have on my list to buy.
Agree with this 100%! I have some very nice piece as well. I am a big vintage watch guy. Yes the very nice vintage one will only be magazine piece for me but regardless I love them. Many in my boxes that I do not wear but do take them out and wear them while working at the bench or lounging around the house
My wife and I were shopping for panettones before Christmas at the Eataly that finally opened for business here in Toronto a few years ago, staff were serving up bites of sample cakes to customers. I am not much of a fan for tiny morsels until we were offered one more sample by an Italian fella who oozed old world charm wearing some interesting looking timepiece. The Mrs happily accepted a few bites but I was more intrigued by the man’s watch. He was stunned that I am not familiar with AliExpress since I am Chinese. He admitted that he purchased the inexpensive watch because it recalls the design of a certain gauge in one of his Ferraris. Turns out he is some big shot connected to Eataly, he was gentle bragging about a fondness for cheap watches to free up money for more important things in life but was nice about it. Sadly I remain ignorant of AliExpress watches as well as Ferraris.
Love for all watches! 💯

My niece is married to a Filipino guy, a little too button down but great young man.
If I like the watch I'll wear it 🤷♂️ brand? Movement? Automatic or quartz? 🤷♂️
The Chinese fake watch industry is branching out into unique designs now and gaining credibility as legit companies. Most just use the better more reliable Japanese movements.
If you love that watch………. Well that’s all that counts my friend enjoy them 👍🏻

As long as one doesn't pay something akin to Invicta MSRP for a $50 watch, I am all for buying what you like and enjoy.
At least the Ali brands don't pass off junk as haute horology. Am honest watch at a fair price.
Now Ali brands' CS is a whole other discussion.
This Tandorio cost something like $59 USD, and it’s one of the most accurate watches in my collection, typically within +2 sec/day and sometimes better. It’s just absurd!
.
Buy want you like! There are many higher end Swiss watches that I would love but I just can’t justify it to myself when I have two kids in middle school… but I love watches! If I can get an homage Steel Dive or Seestern for a fraction of the price, I’ll do it. Do what makes you happy and what you can afford. 👍
I would rather feel comfortable wearing my watch in all situations than buying a watch and leaving it in a safe. There are plenty of homage watches that can give you the look and if you scratch it to bad you just replace it. Thats for me a more enjoyable experience.
