Hodinkee.. worst customer service ever!!!

Hello ,

It’s shocking how bad is Hodinkee service that I think it’s one of worst experiences I had with any company. I order a watch about 12 days ago expecting it will be delivered within the timeline mentioned in there website. Until now the watch is not shipped, this supposed to be a gift for someone special that will be leaving today and I wasn’t able to hand him the gift ! What’s really frustrating is there customer service , useless !!!! They just send reply’s that’s scripted without trying to solve your issue !!! When I asked for cancellation they refused although it’s clearly mentioned that you can cancel and get refund. It’s so sad when you see company like Hodinkee provide such bad service. What’s the use of the shiny articles and massive collections of watches & brands if you don’t have a good customer service!! What a shame …

Hope you get your money back and find a better seller. I only know their youtube channel and even that seems to be shitty 😬

·

I hope too but it seems they won’t .. they screwed the day for me 🥲

·

They come across as arrogant and snooty

·

Hodinkee is a hurtin’ puppy. They’ve already had to lay off 20% of their staff and they are sitting on a pile of inventory they bought during the bubble.

They are in business to shamelessly take people’s money, not to provide customer service. This strategy is also burning them pretty bad.

Unfortunately this is not the first post I’ve read regarding this same issue about Hodinkee.

Just curious, did you purchase from Hodinkee or Crown & Caliber?

I’m sorry to learn you missed your gift giving opportunity.

·

I might talk to your credit card company or bank if Hodinkee is refusing to provide a refund if their policy says they do in you situation.

It was form Hodinkee. Thank you for your kind words 🙏🏼

Thanks all for the comments. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

It seems they are really struggling with many of their staff laid off and I think they are on the downfall. Shame as I really loved their stuff early on in my watch collecting journey 10 years ago.

·

They’ve always processed and shipped my orders quickly with delivery on the 2nd day. There’s more to this story.

·

Hodinkee is 💩 and that's all the nice things I can say about them.

·

These days, numerous companies are pushing the limits of their capabilities in an attempt to boost their revenue. They often collect payments online through algorithms and other automated processes. Then, they do not follow up adequately. To address this, I've devised a test: before making a purchase, I contact them to inquire about potential import fees, for instance. If I receive no response or if the response is unduly delayed, I consider it a red flag and refrain from proceeding with the purchase.

·

Haven't used them, now never will.

Sounds like a great business plan. Buy high, sell low. 😂

If it does not show up soon, I recommend disputing the charge with your CC company without talking to Hodinkee ASAP. You probably will need to write them a physical letter, the CC company that is. Simply calling probably won't do it. Be sure to explain the situation to the CC in total.

Hodinkee is a sinking ship. Lots of evidence of this, Tim Mosso was saying their layoffs and lack of sales have been hurting them, and zero work culture since Clymer took off to go drive cars and play golf full time. When they bought C&C they sealed their fate; I'm certain they thought that whatever watch market bubble existed wouldn't affect them because they were top dog.

When I sold them a GS in 2022 it took 6mo to get my money. They told me I just made the cutoff before they stopped buying watches, and kept giving excuses for why I wasn't sent money. Meanwhile they listed my watch within days of receiving. Had to have a friend of mine who knows Clymer call him up and rage at him to get them to mail me a check (they said they don't wire for watches under $50,000 lmfao).

They possibly didn't have the watch in stock, but still had it for sale on their site. A lot of retailers are doing this and it's very frustrating 😑

Exactly, they should mention it !

Man this is really bad , good you got your money 😅

·

I've heard bad things about them more than once and Fed has put them on his sh*t list though he used to be a fan.

·

Thank you for sharing this. Unfortunately these kind of terrible customer's experiences are not an isolated case any longer, on the contrary they are becoming a trend in our "modern, global economy". I had a similar, really bad experience recently, having to deal with the Damasko side of things. My post on that is almost ready and then it will be shared here for everyone's benefit. Letting other people know is the most important defence we have, on the long run. At least you save your fellow watch lover from walking the same bitter path. I would try to freeze the payment contacting your bank/CC company. Do not waste any more time with these people. Good luck.

·

💯

·

I bought, received, and returned a watch from Hodinkee and it was all easy. I'm just representing another experience.

·

Somebody sent me a note that Hodinkee just had their fifth round of payoffs so I am not surprised.

Same. Tbh I hope hodinkee's hubris burns them all the way. Fratello, ABTW, Worn&Wound, even Time&Tide have been really shining now that the shadow they've been sitting under has been knocked down. Very interesting time for us consumers!

·

Clearly, something is Wrong with Hodinkee. Rumours of senior staff leaving keep popping up on the interwebs, their Limited Editions are no longer sold out the day they are released and notifications about special sales keep pinging on my Ipad.

Hope for Ben Clymer that he can sell his remaining shares at a decent price before LVMH jettysons the whole shebang

·

Couldn’t return a watch within 2 weeks of purchase cause it was in the uk. I have better service with revolution recently and they are good

·

I had 3 experiences with Hodinkee, but honestly speaking they were good. Once I ordered 4 watches and only got 1 but they quickly rectified the issue once I raised it up. Not advocating by any means but its always good to show the good and bad, I hope they solve your problem in a way that makes you happy.

I totally understand, happy they helped you in your issue 🙏🏼

·

Yeah, I would get the muscle of your credit card company involved.

·

I have ordered from them twice, both experiences I would consider as okay. I paid expedited shipping and that may have helped things move along, the shipping was next day air, but it look 2-3 days for it to ship. So realistically had it in hand within 4 days. Again, not the end of the world for me. When I pay Next Day Air from Jomashop, I received my watch the next day. When I pay Next Day Air from Teddy Baldassare, I received my watch in 2 days.
