Would you get this for 3K

Would you get this FC highlife chrono or rather save up for something from tudor, omega or breitling ? I really like the design and the fact it comes with two extra interchangeable straps. But also since I am willing to spend over 3K for a watch for the first time I do not know if I should get a luxury brand.

Yes I could. Frederic constant is not just an "entry level" in luxury. They make realy good watch

·

No.

For that money you can get something nicer if you buy used. Omega , Tudor are within reach . Personally I never buy new, really don't see the value in it.

·

I bought a Highlife a bit over a month ago and am very impressed with it - it's way more versatile and getting a heap more time on the wrist than I anticipated. I got a hefty discount as well.

That said, it doesn't sound like you know what you want to buy as yet - and until you do, I'd wait until the watch comes to you.

I'd spend some time in the boutiques / AD's in your area getting hands on with everything that appeals to you - that always makes the decision clearer.

I find that visiting the stores is what cements a favourite. In fact I often leave a store having fallen for a watch I'd not previously even considered.

It's impossible to know what will resonate when you get a watch in hand and on the wrist. Things I've loved in photos disappoint and vice versa. Highly recommend - particularly when you're having trouble deciding.

Good luck!

FC is luxury. One of the more under-valued brands. They made their own movements and the quality of their watches is very good. If you really like it go for it.

But if you’re going to spend that money in a watch, you must find a watch that really resonates with yourself. You must really want that watch. Not just because it’s a Tudor, and Omega or a Rolex. You should feel like falling in love with that watch. If it’s not that way you’ll regret it.

·

No, not unless you really like the Highlife as a chrono. You can pick up used or grey market 3-hand w/ date function for $1-1.5k. I picked up a Rose Gold Highlife for $1100 new from a grey market dealer. Highlifes are really awesome well built watches.

For $3.5k you could stretch with a bit more ($500) for a used Omega Aqua Terra or Tudor BB54 for example

HIGHLY recommend both of those.

·

Ignore any naysayers, $3,000 is luxury.

The important thing is do YOU like the FC. If you really like it get it.

Those are solid watches to look into - I will say IMO I would not pay retail for Breitling - way overpriced new compared to Omega or Tudor. Would look for big discount new or good deal used or grey market.

·

Luxury is ANY watch as I’m sure everyone has a phone for the time. They are all personal to us all

Buy what you like, if you don’t buy the one you want you will regret it as it will never be the watch you want. It’s a good idea to go to an AD to have a look at a what you like even if just makes your mind up on what you don’t want and may surprise you on something you hadn’t considered. Good luck

·

One thing I like about this is that it’s different! It’s not an oyster case Daytona wannabe. It has its own look and presence. That’s a big plus for me.

If this model (and its brothers and sisters) were 37/38mm I would be all over them.

·

Tired-looking Speedmaster-cousin with a misplaced date window with the wrong background colour. Can’t believe they get away with the ”luxury” comment from everyone. 😩🤯

·

As we talked about Nomos and German brands before - this would be a stunner, an amazing GADA, and in the size range you like. So recommend you go to AD to try on, as lugs are long and not for everyone.

My philosophy is to follow your heart. If possible go and try them on first hand to really see whether you love it or not. Watch collecting can often seem like ladder climbing where you go higher and higher brand wise and price wise, but remember that if you love a $3K watch a “better” $5K watch might not even make you as happy as the 3K one.

·

Ooooo good question cause there are a lot of watches in that range, the best thing to do is to try it on and see if YOU like or love it. I can only speak from my experience with the brand with my world timer. Do I love the watch and brand? Well I got mine on sale at an online sale from citizen a few years back and it was 75% off! At 1k I think it's the best deal by far that I've ever gotten on a watch. But would I pay 4k for it....🤔 I don't think I would.

·

You have to ask yourself what you want. If you want an Omega or a Tudor, than don’t buy this FC and save. If the FC was part of your list and equally desirable to you, then go for it

·

No.

·

For 3000 you can do better than this. For 3000 you can get a an unworn Speedmaster...

It's an evil panda (so not exactly the same colors) but it's way cooler in my opinion.

If you like it, want it, buy it.😃👍

FC Highlife Chrono is an amazing watch, its in my opinion one of the most best kept secrets ~$3k with the brand being one of the most underappreciated for the value for money and quality that they push out (they have perpetual calendars, beautiful tourbillons too).

A lot of people writing comments here have likely never even seen it in person - I wasn't able to see one in London and had to take a leap of faith when I ordered mine via a dealer. I have to echo some comments I read here, and I completely agree with these - Omega / Tudor are more POPULAR brands, it doesn't mean that they are BETTER or produce HIGHER quality products.

My FC has quickly become the most worn watch in my collection (have a Speedy, Rolex Day Just, a few Breitlings, Zenith CMS, and of course G-Shocks). This is because on quality its mostly on par with every other luxury brand yet its extremely versatile and if its get stolen I wont cry about it and instead get a new one while saving my wrist from being chopped off! I received the most complements on it too.

I suggest you get the blue limited edition panda and not this black panda. That one comes with steel bracelet, leather and rubber straps. The date window also matches the dial. The one you have only comes with steel bracelet and rubber.

The finishing is top notch, bracelet hugs your wrist nicely if you can get the fit just right. Quick change allows you to rock any of the three straps non stop. The pushers are best in class. Its so compact too, even though its 14mm thick, because of its rounded edge design with lug to lug around 46mm from memory. The fact that you don't have a tachymeter or a dive bezel oozes pure class and makes it a very versatile luxury watch - dress or sport watch. Not to mention 60h power reserve! Have a look at the links below, there are quite a few other reviews out there too.

The BEST SWISS Watch Brand that NOBODY WANTS! (youtube.com)

You can get it relatively cheaply too as most of them are 20% below the retail price, I got it mine for GBP2.5k but you can get them as low as GBP2.3k here in UK (thats including the 20% VAT!).

·

I'd contact an AD and see if there are deals. I have 2 FC and love them. I got a huge deal on a Highlife Perpetual Calendar from an AD who also sold on eBay.

I think you can push for a discount.

·

No, I personally would not.

·

I'd wait

Hey sorry I'm late I doing some intense travelling for work. See some snaps from last night. It's quite interesting that the blue dial takes a completely different color and aesthetics when it's angled.

I'll see if I can get some in the sunlight later!

Love this watch

Many thanks 😍 your pictures make me want it more! What is your wrist size ?

18cm, so around 7 inches.

The lug to lug on this watch is quite compact at 46mm so it can wear quite nice on a wide range of wrist sizes, especially with the rubber and leather straps! The braclet wears slightly larger as the first links don't articulate straight down but honestly if your wrist is 16cm and above you shouldn't have much of an issue
