San Martin - what would you pick?

Hi all! I have been looking for an affordable gmt that sits well on a small wrist. Came across san martin, a chinese manufacture which uses the seagull movement for their watches. The price to performance is great, curious at what model you would pick?

On one hand, the affordable pepsi looks great, probably the best mechanical movement pepsi at this price range, much better than the the timex harbourside (which does have miyota movement but is 44mm). On the other hand, the teal blue is really a beautiful watch that is their own take. Cant go wrong with either of these, but i’m obviously attracted to the pepsi as i think it’s an attainable choice for paying homage without needing an expensive watch.

So, what would you pick?

Thanks for the read :)

Both San Martins that I have use Seiko movements, one of which is a GMT.

Both are well made watches.

This is the San Martin year of the dragon. Essentially the same as the teal GMT you are showing.

Teal for originality.

C. Not buying a San Martin

Have a look at Nodus, Traska, Lorier, RZE. Go with something original that has solid CS, a useable warranty and supports small business.

I see your point of supporting a good business with good customer service, however I am not really shopping at that price point yet. Still building my collection so the first 8 will be an affordable and different categories, this one being gmt. Then it will be the luxury or vintage. At least that’s my plan :)

The teal one has original looks - when you see one you know it's a SanMartin. There are a ton of pepsi-coloured designs out there.

Also to consider is the GMT from Seestern which is a little more dressy. I have one on order.

Nodus entry point is not that much more vs SM. And will be something you can hand down. Thirty years from now, will still be a recognized, well made watch.

Thirty years from now, SM will be worthy of chunking in the bin.

My opinion.

it’s a good opinion & It’s fair criticism, I definitely have that mindset for some of my future purchases. I do think about the here and now however, perhaps i’ll take your point onboard when i’m a tad older with a bit more savings behind me. Thanks for the comment :)

Have a look at Spinnaker on LIW. 39mm, sapphire, NH34. Marc runs a great US company that stands behind its products, with tons of watch options.

I picked this one. it wears beautifully, and the bracelet is like silk on skin.

Also--both the watches in the OP and my own SN0016-G (just above) have NH34 (Seiko/Japanese) movements, not Sea-Gull. And San Martin advertising mentions the NH34.
