As a republican Dane, I think he struck home wearing an expensive tool watch, which most people can't afford and thus adding to the phantasm of his sublimity, while not being totally elist with some conspicuously expensive watch. Being a beloved king you probably don't feel the need to flex on the people whose money and votes enables your kingship.
He is being praised for being "folkelig", in touch with the people (which he obviously also isn't in many ways). Flexing on the people there to celebrate him, with some expensive dress watch would be an absolute terrible choice. Not the least as it would be out of touch with his image as a sporty person who went through one of the world's hardest military training programs.
“This week, then-Danish Crown Prince Frederik X was proclaimed King of Denmark after his mother Queen Margrethe II abdicated the throne. King Frederik X served in the Frogmen Corps and when he took the throne, he wore his “unit watch” Omega Seamaster Diver 300M . . . on a tan Omega fabric strap. We always choose our most meaningful watches for big events and to the King, this appears to be his. Any watch brand would be thrilled to give him any allocation he wants–but instead he chose to wear the watch he served in. It doesn’t get any better.”

I have read it is his Danish Frogman Corps “Unit Watch” Omega Seamaster Fover 300M … on a NATO. Info from the Watches of Espionage Instagram feed.
If the king of Denmark wears a tool watch on a NATO to his own inauguration... is the dress watch dead? 🙄

Omega seamaster with a Bark and Jack desert sand NATO strap
How can you see that it is a Bark and Jack Nato strap? 🙂
In Denmark we have a webshop called Ebbsen.dk - https://ebbsen.dk/shop/47-riflede-natoremme/303-riflet-natorem---kaki/ - And it looks a lot like that nato strap to 🙂 - I don't say that it is not a Bark and Jack or that it is a Ebbsen, but I can't see the difference on these two on that picture 🙂

When you know you just know 🤣
I was exactly wondering what was he wearing! a SMP300! What model though? second monarch to have one of these with Prince William...
Very unclassy for a king 😂
Exactly.
Nato Strap is when you're in combats or garrison uniform.
Dress Uniform should require a dress watch.
But hey, now a days no military actually upholds actual standards anymore, why should their Commander in chief?
