What platform do you prefer to buy your watches?

Today the online market represents a greater percentage of sales than the conventional store, but being able to see, touch and try on a watch continues to be a sacred ritual.

As a longtime member of both WUS and TimeZone I prefer both over everything else.

For new stuff generally Ashford or direct from the company in the case of micros.

Why eBay over Chrono?

·

eBay for pricier stuff & Facebook forums for swaps and cheaper watches ( <£600) , forums take a lot of trust 😱but not been ripped off yet 🤞🏻& done at least 6 deals.

Never buy new.

Nothing ventured etc...🤣

I’ve ordered all my watches directly from the brand, except for my PRX which I bought from Teddy.

Shop, direct or Chrono24

·
  • Amazon for new watches.

  • Chrono24 for expensive S/H watches.

  • eBay for cheap watches and parts.

  • AliExpress for straps and things.

·

If you don’t care about papers jomashop is good

·

Ebay for expensive watches if the deal is better than the AD.

Their authenticity guarantee is excellent. It's prevented my brother from being stung with a fraudulent watch, and helped me secure an unworn legitimate watch at a big discount.

·

Good to know! I usually only buy local, aside from 2 JDM watches I got from Chrono.

For mod parts, would you recommend eBay over AliEx? Looking at doing a build. My customer service has been hit and miss with Ali...

Catawiki. Good assortment, more room to negotiate a good deal (it is an auction site after all)

I wish you could buy and sell on WUS without a minimum number of comments first. I understand the reason but it’s frustrating for an honest person like myself.

I do most of my buying and selling on Reddit watchexchange. Never had a scam issue. Buy the seller not the watch!

·

Local AD's for expensive watches,

local grey importers for cheap watches,

Straps in general: wherever I can find a good deal for a reasonable quality.

Watchband Berlin for OEM Casio straps.

Aliexpress for cheap straps.

@horolo_fan @Inkitatus ok so you guys think eBay Authentication is legit pro? Even to spot a fake grand seiko? Reason I ask is because I just found out they offer that check. I'm so chicken to use eBay cuz I grew up using it 20 years or so when it first started and I just found out today it has an actual dedicated watch authentication service. I guess when I was in there buying decades ago it was buyer beware. Back then I had to read each review to confirm it was a legit review and not a fake profile review to pump up the rating. So it was annoying reading 100 reviews each time I wanted to buy a T-shirt 😂😂😂 so I switched to other sites instead, it was very Wild West

But now you guys are confident in the protocols so some shady knockoff scam artist can't work the system to somehow tick the authentication check box off without them actually getting it? I know ppl are smart about gaming the system. I'll have to watch hours of YouTube to catch up on this new to me service tho.

I have 100% confidence in the EAG. I made a post about it a few months ago. It should be easy to find if you check my profile 👍

Yes 100% legit authentication service - I know for certain as I've since had my SM300 serviced by Omega. 👍👍
