Royce Royce?

·

I don't like them

Know bugger all about cars, but I'd say PP's motorcycle equivalent would be a classic Brough Superior SS100..

Morgan. Oh wait, they use outsourced engines. TVR? Bristol?

Honestly, I think both the interviewer and the CEO are dumb. I never wanna drive a modern car that’s made completely inhouse because the safety of the modern cars depends on technologies no one company can provide on its own.

CEO should have dismissed the question rather than offending his customers who love Porsche😂

Patek is the Rolls Royce of watchmaking

95% of added value. That is such a lovely metric, could mean anything. They might make almost everything or if they value their brand high enough it might as well just be printing their logos...

Also, the best way to control quality from A to Z is to control quality... from A to Z. Doesn't matter who made it, if you do a good job filtering lemons then you won't be selling of them to the customer.

·

Watches are watches and cars are cars. Comparing the two is simply pointless and really irrelevant.

·

Rolls Royce IMO.

Pre-BMW Rolls Royce, right?

BINGO. The pre-BMW qualifier makes it my choice.

·

Snobby, over complicated, under produced and horribly overpriced? Some McLaren supercar?

Yeah 95% added value is the cost of the watchmakers who assemble it. certainly not the parts... he clarifies that they make most things themselves though a bit later on. But do they make steel wheels or pivots? Unlikely. They won't make the hairsprings either. Four or five companies make them all.

But that's no fun!

Yes! I think that's precisely what Stern was saying at the end there, rather than suggesting that PP is more similar to some other, better car company.

I would say post BMW, RR evolved as much as a lot of modern PP.
