The Tudor Black Bay 58 in 2024

The Tudor Black Bay 58 (39mm, Black and Gilt version) was all the rage when it came out in 2018. Did it withstand the test of time? Would you buy one in 2024? If you wanted one before but not anymore, what changed your mind? No shade to anyone who likes these—I’m just interested in the psychology around hype in watch-collecting. I don't wanna buy one only because I have the 41 Heritage and love it. BUT, if I didn't already own one and knew what I know from owning a BB, I absolutely would buy a 58

·

Yes I would but it. It's a fantastic watch.

·

Wow. Half the people never fell for our lord and savior 😂

·

Also yes I have one. The 925. Maybe my most worn watch

·

I'm happy with the SM 6200. 😊

·

Yeah I can’t wait to finally get one, it’s a perfect watch for me IMO

·

It’s not for me; but I would definitely recommend it to someone for their first (or only) ‘luxury’ watch

·

It’s a great watch who lived up to the hype

·

Not even as a gift....🤢

·

I bought one when it was first launched from my regular multi brand ad who insisted that due to the number of customers who were waiting to get their hands on one he could not offer even a courtesy discount but I included the watch along with a PO1 and a high beat Grand Seiko that I had my eyes on received a discount on purchase of 3. I was warned that the 58 might feel smaller than I prefer, did not object but finally gave the watch after a few months to my younger daughter because it was smaller than I like. If I was just new in the hobby would definitely buy the watch today in the black iteration or if the customer does not own too many watches already, for me was not getting any wrist time.

·

I refuse to buy another Tudor until they update the clasp and bracelet on all heritage models

·

I did fancy one when they came out but having tried one on it was for a dive watch too small for my liking

So I did want one and don’t want one now it’s got nothing to do with the hype either way

It is a quality watch for sure. A great casual dive style watch. I just wasn’t sure about the black and gilt and red combo.

·

I like the black and gold it’s a classic look and exactly the look they were aiming for

I had a black bay gmt and the quality is there that’s for sure

·

I would but knowing what I know now, I would insist on an updated clasp.

·

Would love to own the BB58 but the price is now too high.

·

I had one and would definitely buy another. Great watch

·

I just bought one this week, and it already feels more at home in my wrist than almost any watch I own.

·

Only the latest burgundy with T fit clasp.
