Which watch did you previously own that you still think about on the regular?

Sometimes we part ways with watches and experience seller's remorse. Other times we don't. But every once in a while we part ways with a watch, experience no seller's remorse, but the watch never leaves our thoughts.

For me, this watch is the Credor GCBG987. A GMT, world timer, with a retrograde day, and a date subdial. It was a limited edition from the early 2000's on their Phoenix case platform with a black lacquer-esque (unsure if it was actually lacquer or not), gold toned finished movement, cool engraved world time bezel with a subtle red lettering for Tokyo, with a rotating internal chapter ring, in a relatively thin and sporty case given the amount mechanical tech under the hood.

I only had it for about 2 weeks in early 2021 because I purchased it for a very low price and serendipitously met someone immediately who was willing to buy for almost twice what I acquired it for.

I probably would have still ended up parting ways with it eventually, but because I had it for such a short amount of time, its memory is a vague glimmer in my mind I keep going back to.

What's your previously owned watch that stays in your mind? Do you think you'll purchase again or is the memory suffice?

I wish I wouldn't have sold my SKX.

I'm at peace with every other watch I've sold.

Thanks for sharing, I don't have a story like this. But you just made me aware of these watches. I have never seen them before, love the look of this, and I'm a huge Seiko fan. Heading over to Chrono24 right now 🙂

About 20 years ago I had a small watch collection including a Preisig Schaffhausen Day-Date (I found another one of these last year), a Maurice Lacroix Miros Coussin Réveil (a quartz alarm watch) and a Roamer Competence Automatic: it was a watch with a very small black dial and metal numbers "12" and "6" as well as baton indices around it in a crystal sandwich, based on a 1950s design never released back in the day. A manual wound, small seconds version of it is currently on Chrono24.

I still long for this one which I sold a few years back.....

Vintage Longines that I did a dumb trade on.

Yes, I owned a 1992 Tudor sub 79090 in blue, for about 20 years, I sold it about a decade ago and cringe now when I see what they are changing hands for. I had a seamaster 300 professional at the time and wasn’t wearing the Tudor very often, but I’ve missed the damn thing ever since, as an aside, I wouldn’t pay the inflated prices to replace it….that’s life, these days I love Chinese homage watches, variety is the spice of life !

The only watch that even comes close to this description is the Mickey Mouse watch I wore in grade school. Turns out it was a hand me down from my sister and she “claimed” it, no strap broken crystal and all when we came across it in my parents house after they had passed.

Why it sticks out in my mind is a mystery to me.

Although English it's not my native language, I thought I was quite good at it, but then "serendipitously" comes up and I'm not so confident again.

I never sold a watch , don't have that many, I guess !

Ha! Yes, it's an unnecessary word, but I might as well use it so my vocabulary-test-taking student days weren't lived in vain.

They are definitely cool and not something you see everyday!

I'm new on this app so I'm not sure if I can insert a song here, but if I could I would reply with Rod Stewart's "Ooh La La". I feel your comment!

Thanks for sharing! I definitely think of the Credor more, but when I stretch into my memory and try to think of my very first watch, I recall something that looks like a Gshock DW6900 in Dodger Blue with a Dodgers logo on it... I can picture it perfectly in my mind, but I've never seen one for sale. The whole Dodgers thing is a mystery too because I nor my folks were dodgers fans... maybe it was something I won at school or a gift from a relative. To this day I am still not sure, but I can picture the watch crystal clear.

I sometimes miss this beautiful Speedmaster. But it spent more time locked down in a safe than on my wrist so it had to go…

I’ve only sold one (so far): Bulova Lunar Pilot. It’s a wonderful watch… that was just too big for me. Even the 43 mm I tried at the store was ok but just not great. It’s such a beautiful and adorable watch, but it’s size is a hurdle. If a 41 mm came out I would definitely consider coming back to it!

Hanhart perventor 9. I thank about it some times.

A Sinn 104 green Arabic dial LE. I had bought that watch brand new and I never buy brand new watches. A friend talked me into selling it to him. I did not ask for right of first refusal. He sold itwithin a month or so. I think about that watch all the time.

The Oris Big Crown Movember Edition. It was purchased for an amazing deal practically new. And it was for a special occasion. I talked myself into thinking it was too big over time and selling it. Turned a slight profit and made someone else really happy. But think about it often. Have to remind myself to move on…
