I own both this NTTD version and the white dial SMP youโre thinking of. The white dial SMP was actually my first real โluxuryโ watch I ever purchased with my โIโm a big boy!โ money lol. Anyway, as much as I love the white dial, the NTTD is completely on another level. The colorway is really what sold me, but I do appreciate what titanium has to offer.
Heft is innately associated with higher quality goods. But here I think the craftsmanship that went into NTTD outweighs whatever itโs missing in weight. The box sapphire glass gives you a perfect view into the symmetrical dial. I personally love no-date window dials. But if the date window is something that you need then I think your decision is clear and you should get the white dial SMP.
It also depends on what kind of aesthetic youโre going for. Both watches are rugged but somewhat dressy enough to pair with a suit. Iโd say the white dial goes farther in the dressy dept. while NTTD is the more rugged looking option. IMO, the vintage fautina is pretty unique on the NTTD and will make your wrist stand out more than the white dial SMP.
If NTTD were half the current price, then Iโd say getting it would be a no brainer. But because itโs double the price of the SMP and youโre still uncertain about the titanium bracelet, Iโd say getting the white dial is prob your best bet. Youโre supposed to love your watch purchase and be inspired by it. But if youโre this much on the fence abour NTTD AND youโre paying essentially double the normal MSRP of a regular SMP, then Iโd say you donโt love the NTTD enough to be happy with it. So shelling out the extra money for it doesnโt make any sense.
I also swapped the strap on my white dial for the steel mesh version of the mesh bracelet thatโs currently on the NTTD. Itโs amazing and I have nothing but praise for it. So just remember that you have band options for the white dial SMP, too. Thereโs no wrong answer here, but definitely go with whatโs gonna make you happy on a daily basis.
