Dan Henry 1945 (reverse panda) opinions

I looking for my next piece and I am torn between 3 warches. At the moment, DH 1945 with the black dial and cram subdials is the favorite but I am not sure. I have already a couple of seiko vk63/64 and i am very pleased with those. I am kinda doubting the pricing of the piece considering the movement.. What is your expirience with the brand in general and with the partcular model?

Can’t speak to that particular model but I have a 1970 that’s great and I’ve found Dan Henry as a brand easy to get in touch with and quick to respond.

Just so you know he’s bringing out a new watch based on vintage skin divers that’ll have a mechanical movement.

The 1945 doesn't have a Seiko mecaquartz, it has the Miyota 6S20. IMO, Miyota chronos have the absolutely worst, slowest chrono reset among quartz chronographs.

You are absolutely right. I got it wrong, possibly, based on the fact that other dan henry chronos have the seiko mecaquartz. Hm so this movement is inferior to the vk one I wonder?

In terms of the reset function. Citizen and Bulova use the chrono module of the 6S20 - the reset is just painfully slow, the pusher action itself feels...dunno how to put it...rubbery? It was an absolute "nope" for me in a few good-looking watches... Falls behind older generation of basic ETA quartz chronos still used by Swatch. The VK64 has a mechanical chrono module on a quartz base, so you get better tactile feel of the pushers and an instant, snap reset of the chrono hands. Dan Henry uses the VK mecaquartz as well, just sadly not in the 1945.

Have a 1970 too and really enjoy it...

I have the all black 1945 and I absolutely love it. Yes some folks would say that the chrono reset is slow and cumbersome but for what I use a chrono for is generally timing a single thing that last minutes long not seconds so the slow reset doesn't bother me at all. I also love the bezel allowing me to track 2x timezones at once or even extend the chrono time into hours if your timing something that long. My DH 1945 is one of my favorite pieces in my collection because of the inclusion of both a tachymeter and telemeter scale and gets worn regularly. I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Citizen/Miyota is as well known for using the 24h subdial on some of their movements. Indeed a rather pointless complication
