This is another arena where I like fingernail buffing blocks as they have enough bit to dull an edge without really marring the metal.

I do the same. I’ve taken a fair amount of rough edges from my BB58 clasp. It’s quite comfortable now.

That's very subjective. I'd err on the side of caution, as there is no going back if one goes too far.
The downside of the gentleness of these things is that they wear out quickly. A new one does wonders, for a minute or two.
