Can anyone ID this Submariner

I’m trying to narrow down at least the decade this may be from, we believe it was purchased around late 50’s early 60’s by my uncle during his time in the army, but we have no solid dates to work off.

I’m aware I can ID with a serial but I don’t currently have the watch.

Thanks for any help!

Looks like a 5513?

The bracelet isn't original, and appears to be pretty precarious anyway, so you could ask whomever has the watch to take a pic between the lugs and maybe get more info that way. They wouldn't even have to take the bracelet off. Good find!

5513 was in production for a long time

I agree with @88MilesPerHour have whomever has this watch in their possession take a picture of in between the lugs... because the bracelet does not have fitted/curved endlinks they may even be able to see the reference and / or serial without removing by looking between the lugs from the back of the watch

It's post-1959 because there are crown guards, but the dial looks matte to me? So that would mean post-1967?

Looks like a 5513, late 60s as it has a meters first dial, the more desirable version. The bracelet has no place on the watch however.

Remove the bracelet and between the lugs there should be the model number and the serial number as well (on either side... at the 6 o'clock + 12 o'clock) Also, take it to the AD and they should be able to authenticate it for you. If it is the "real-deal" you have in your possession a GRAIL WATCH...

the bracelet is beyond fugazzi..., the crown looks a little big?

A lot of times (especially with older watches that people didn't consider valuable) the bracelets will get swapped out for what was available in their town. Bracelet doesn't feel like fake so much as necessity. I can't tell with the crown, but the watch looks legit.

Crown seems fine for late 60s sub

This was likely changed as my uncle gotten older, like you mentioned this was just a watch to him so keeping it original was hardly on his list of priorities!
